If it's wrong to become friends with food, I'm wrong. I have to admit this dude is kinda growing on me. About 8' away and clucking a bit at me like he wants to have a chat. No sign of running like the other ones the second he sees movement.

My freaking wife was feeding it Martins potato chips the other day....I guess its a pet now.
I would put her in our turkey pen but I dont know if shes healthy and I dont want to infect my heritage birds.
She seems healthy but who knows.
It has great protection......our dogs.I agree I wouldn’t. She might be physically healthy but not mentally.
Also some one else may have raised her up from a chick as a wild turkey and she escaped.
I’ve seen a bird like that and come to find out later it was some ones pet. I was at a friends property and this “wild” turkey came up to use and we were all like what the hell. My friend was calling back and forth without a call just his mouth and we were all like this is amazing this wild bird just walked up to us and started talking to my buddies dad. About 15-20 went by then he said it does look like a wild bird but it’s the guy up the roads. I don’t know where he got it from.
If you keep it around it will possibly get eaten by a coyote if it has no protection. Does it fly up and roost at night at least?
Probably roost's right near the houseIt has great protection......our dogs.
No clue where she goes at night.
I believe shes wild...this isnt rare for turkeys to do....as shown with 2 other members here having the same thing happening.
Turkeys are odd.
Speaking of hair ..... our Husky produces tumble weeds daily. I've gotten so bored I find myself staring at them as they methodically drift across the floor. The remnants of my self induced haircut finally blew away.
Im often shaken after a blow.Wind finally stopped. I sat out this morning and not a single gobbler. Hoping they were just shaken from yesterday's blow. I'm going to hike around a stand of pines later, look for poop and see if they're even still in the area. They love roosting in the pines. Praying for good weather for opening.
Be careful not to push them this close to May 1st. Also lots of rain by me so not sure the turds would hold up to the rain we had this past few days. Maybe you had less precipitation than me?Wind finally stopped. I sat out this morning and not a single gobbler. Hoping they were just shaken from yesterday's blow. I'm going to hike around a stand of pines later, look for poop and see if they're even still in the area. They love roosting in the pines. Praying for good weather for opening.
