Whether or not you want to admit it, a big reason Trump got elected was social media. There is a reason Dems pushed the “Russian interference” narrative so hard, because of a few Russian sock accounts on Twitter and the like.
I don’t use any social media but court cases have ruled they exist as a sort of modern public square, where a MASSIVE portion of political speech and debate occurs. Ideas and news are spread on sites like YouTube. And furthermore these sites are important to reaching the younger generations.
Now I’d be more keen to say nuke all social media but given the reality of its presence it is tantamount to maintaining a presence on them if you hope to see conservative ideals maintained in any manner

Don't have to nuke social media. Well the CEOs of these companies would consider the loss of personal data collection as being nuked but that is what needs to happen. An individuals personal data needs to become legally sacrosanct as much as a person's physical body or private dwelling space. Person needs ownership of their digital self.
Young people that think they need this type of social media. The ones that are immature and insecure to tell their friends that Face book sucks.

Tech companies are globalist strongholds, and most are run by immature billionaires who don’t see anything wrong with imposing their world view on everyone else. I've never used any of these social media sites & never will. Had a couple of friends ask me to join & I said "HELL NO"- I told them if you want to contact me, you can call me.

Shapiro has an interesting take on this. Basically they started out, and continue to claim to be like the phone companies - just platforms that have no responsibility for content (and by extension, illegal content). However, they're now censoring and regulating content quite heavily. That takes them out of the realm of merely platform providers, adds an editorial component and basically makes them publishers. Publishers usually have the responsibility of making sure there are no violations of law such as copyright, libel, etc. With all the personal pictures and videos on Facebook you can imagine what a cluster managing all of it would be. YouTube is further down this road and actually has a mechanism for copyright violations. They are also getting kicked in the nuts for it: Alphabet had more than $70 billion in market cap wiped out, and it says YouTube is one of the problems
These social media companies are trying to have their cake and eat it too. Unfortunately, they're getting away with it - who has the resources to even think about suing Facebook for copyright or libel, let alone do it successfully.
