All of Iran's oil exports flow through one location - kharg island. Either the Saudi's or the US have the ability to knock it out for a while. A war between Iran and Saudi Arabia has been predicted for a while. Iran appears to be stepping up the use of their proxies in Yemen. It will be interesting to see how the Saudis react.

Had this been an Attack by Iran , the whole Mideast would be in flames now. It would have come as simotainious attacks against multiple targets in a short period of time followed up by a ground invasion.
You are completely missing the context. Can the air defense or anti ship missiles you mentioned hit our domestic oil infrastructure? Of course not. If the iranians or syrians hit our infrastructure with russian or chinese weapons you can be certain we would hold them responsible. Lobbing a missile at our aircraft or ships in the region is entirely different than hitting the oil assets of this country. Since the entire saudi arabian economy is based on oil revenue the attack was a severe threat to their livelihood.

Yes, it was obviously meant to be. But the damage done was tiny compared to an all out war that Iran is accused of . The damage could have been 100 times greater across the whole country if Iran wanted to .

Yes. Same army, some were regulars (NVA), some were irregulars (VC).
The real question is, should we have been there? Which begs the question - if yes, why shouldn't we have completed the mission?

To your latter point- if the Israelis did it *at our direction*- yes.
You are being purposely obtuse on this issue. If relations with china were so bad that they used a proxy to attack us - then yes we would hold the chinese responsible and launch an attack to settle the score. How is it possible that you cannot understand this? By all means list every little transgression between the houthis and the saudis - it does not support your position in the slightest. The iranians made a major escalation. You can argue that since the houthis launched the drones/missiles this doesn't mean anything but you are sadly mistaken. This was an act of war. What happens now is up to the saudis but I am sure they want us to take the lead. The fact that nothing has happened as of yet leads me to conclude we have told the saudis any retaliation is up to them. We will, of course, be happy to sell them any munitions necessary to exact revenge but we won't be launching airstrikes on our own.
