Expansion/penetration balance is as much a matter of bullet construction as anything.It takes away the one thing the 9mm has going for it. Speed.
If it were a solid round like a hard cast, it would be great for hunting. The extra weight would increase penetration.
But for a hollow point, it makes no sense unless it penetrates more than existing hollow points which I doubt because there isn't enough ass in the case to push that heavy round to larger penetration numbers.
If they are designed to barely expand like the Hornady Critical Duty than yes. If they are designed for maximum expansion, then no. There wouldn't be enough velocity to push that parachuted hollow point deep.Expansion/penetration balance is as much a matter of bullet construction as anything.
Slow, heavy projectiles typically penetrate deeply in soft tissue. And again this could be a great subsonic round for suppressed use.
I bet these cost a small fortune though.
