Sorry she lost her job. Hopefully it is short lived.
It's all tied to the virus, so we're fine. In fact, it's probably better off since my step-daughter needs to be homeschooled right now anyway. Thank you though.
I've been on it several times before. If you post the questions I'll answer what I can. If it's just about normal unemployment things somebody might be able to help. Expert....that sounds like lawyer. Definitely not one of them. Pm me if you don't want to ask publicly

With the extra $600 getting kicked in now it should be funemployment.
Question is basically that her company is looking to bring her section back part time working from home. Pretty much a big fuck you, especially with the homeschooling going on. Was looking to see if she could say no and still collect unemployment.
We actually did get the answer. NJ has a caveat for people who are caring for a child who is out of school, plus she could say no anyway because it’s not her former salary/position technically.

I've been out since 3/13, when my Dr. called and told me to stay home/self quarantine after lung cancer. As it was not at my employers request, I did not apply at that time, I thought it would be for a week or two. Time goes by, and I am running low on funds, so I finally tried to apply, to hopefully get the PUA ( pandemic unemployment assistance). Last week on the NY big site, they said apply to NY first and the PUA would kick in automatically. Today it says PUA is only available after NY declines, and then at 50% of what NY would have paid. So NY keeps the rest as a "handling fee"? WTF.
She might be able to say no depending on the situation. If she is deemed necessary she will be cut off and have to repay anything she got after she denied work. If she works 3 days or less a week and makes less than the limit that I think is $540. She will get the 600 every week and payment for the days she didn't work. That's how it is for me. I work a few days each week now and get the 600 + my weekly unemployment for when I didn't work.
If your reason for not working is health related you might need to contact disability and put a claim thru them. I think you can get both but pretty sure you need to get disability first so unemployment can adjust payments according. That's how it worked before all this.

Part of the federal plan is due to a Dr. order. I hadn't planned on applying for state hi, however that is a prerequisite to the federal plan. Now it seems the rules have changed again, in the state's favor. Or I'm reading it wrong.

Not sure about NJ,but in NY you can collect if you have to leave for child care issues.

Unemployment is a safety net and you should qualify on all levels. Especially with what is going on now. Apply everywhere and apply often. Most of all stay healthy and away from the Chinese flu.

Not sure, the rules keep changing. 2 weeks ago you had to apply and get ny hi then the fed would kick in on top of that. Now I think you apply for fed after being denied my. Hard to say day to day.

This was changed as of yesterday with a new form.
My wife collects out of NJ, which is actually higher than NY. So yes, it is the unemployment plus $600. She’s making a hair less than me to stay home, it’s crazy.

Haven't gotten paid other than just once at the end of March. Still claim every week. Still says I have a valid claim. Sent an email through their system with no response. Calling gives you a message that they are busy and hangs up on you. Good thing I don't live check to check.

Strange times. I just want her back to work honestly. He haven’t planned for the summer yet because I refuse to give a deposit to a summer camp when we might not need them. Worst case, I might work midnights all summer and just watch them myself. I’m considering retiring soon anyway. This shit was a huge wakeup call that I’m risking my ass right now for like $30,000 a year considering what I’d be collecting retired anyway.
