Does the video explain why the grip is so wide at the rear/bottom? Why not keep the normal rectangle shape (and bend it up and rearward) instead of this fat triangle? Looks like a very tight fit between grip and buffer tube, no?

I don't know but I got an email saying that the design may slightly change due to working with another manufacturer. We will see.

I think selling this as "not a pistol grip" is a lot harder than selling a rifle with a BB installed and a mag inserted as "not detachable".

I agree with you 100%. That grip doesn't protrude below the action until it is behind the receiver, not below the receiver. According to how the safe act law is written, this grip should be legal. But with the communist laws in NY and communist judges who quote their final judgments on Mother Jones and us being NY citizen who can think for ourselves making us enemies of the state, I don't think this grip will pass in NY.
