School reform is an existential threat to the progressive agenda. If kids get an actual functional education, the inherent fallacies of progressivism become evident.

I defended for many years public schools, but when I saw the brainwashed teachers attacking Trump during this cycle, and the public schools spend money needlessly like there is no tomorrow and just raise that tax levy annually, along with superintendents making easily $180K+ I am getting fed up.

There are many good educators out there, and the good ones are super under appreciated, but the administrative top heavy structure that has crept in to public schools needs to go, as they have become another machine of the Democrats and the anti-gun brainwashing.

Working in a school, and coming up through a school system in an intercity school district, I can tell you that nearly all of the teachers hate her, and if you don't and are a teacher, you will be shunned.

Given that fact, and that our education system in this country sucks the big one, and it has absolutely nothing to do with teachers not being paid enough (they are overpaid), and this woman supports more choice, of course the dems hate her. I like her for the most part.

I don't think government has a place in education though.

In high school, I LITERALLY had an English teacher that would SLEEP with her head down on the desk at least 1/2 of the school days. I then became a substitute teacher. First class, hers. Performed my duties exactly as described. She complained. Teacher's tenure > Substitute, I got the shaft.

So they can blow the DOE right out of their ass.

I'm all for anyone that is a against Common Core. I have talked to a couple engineering professors (RIT) that are livid at common core math. They told me that students in their first year in engineering is spent "re-learning" mathematics, because Common core doesn't work with mechanical or electrical engineering?

However, I think DeVos would be terrible as the DOE head. At her confirmation hearings, she comes off as a complete moron?

I know nothing about her, but from what I've seen of the hearings, she sounds like a blithering idiot. Maybe she just doesn't do well in this type of situation, but yikes!

Yep, DeVos feels like a 'favor' appointment. The conduct of the hearing suggests that even the GOP knows she isn't right for the job.

I'd love to get more details of how common core math doesn't work with engineering. My understanding is that traditional mathematics also get taught? I have kids in elementary school and what I've seen of common core math, so far, is quite good.
