Max and Jim Tresmond were attending. They indicate there is a credible rumor circulating around Albany that NY is about to boned as soon as next January with a FOID card that will be inclusive of long guns and ammunition purchases.

Thank you spineless, numb nuts, lazy ass FUDDS who did not get off your lazy asses and vote to kick Andy's ass out of Albany.

Everytime you want to buy ammo or a firearm, you have to present the card.

I have never had a problem doing a NICS check, but no way will I get a FOID card if there is any recording of firearm or ammo purchases associated with it.

Glad I've stocked up on Ammo and reloading supplies, at least enough until I get out of this state in 4-5 years.

Well for ammo is supposed to be a flash card at the counter to the clerk. I'm not sure about long gun purchases.

This is all speculation of course but if FOID works like it does in other states, you have no choice but to comply if you want to buy a firearm unless you change your address to out of state and buy there but once you do so, there goes your pistol permit and ability to legally buy a handgun and bring it back here.

Same conditions exist with long gun sales. the KEY here (before some of you have your head explode) is that NO recordkeeping outside the current 4473 system for firearms sales is created and NO ammo registry exists.

Lastly...there will be an "administrative" cost attached to the FOID card system, no doubt about it. If it's 25 bucks or less the system will simply be accepted by every FUDD in the State.

Regardless of what so called "attorneys" say or do (or lack of doing for that matter)....a FOID card isn't a bad alternative to what's been proposed and will NEVER be repealed unless the 5 Boroughs falls into the Atlantic ocean.

Those with pistol permits have been fingerprinted and filed character references in addition to their NICS check. That far exceeds what is required for a FOID card. That said...for those who do not want a pistol permit (for whatever reason), it gets them all "registered." THAT is a problem.

For buying ammo..... No. A faxed copy of the card to Midway USA is all that's needed to order ammo. At least that's how it works in CT.

In CT, you need a pistol permit OR a FOID card. You don't need both.

Sorry to be so blunt but in order to wrap your mind around my stance on the matter you have to understand what I wrote which you clearly don't.
In a nutshell....Safe is already almost 4 years old. The very same "attorneys" who sold all of us a bill of goods on how they will "defeat Safe" are back again with "we're going to be screwed part 2" regarding a FOID card. NYS isn't about to openly admit they screwed up with the creation of an ammo database so it appears they're adopting the FOID card system, just like Mass. and Ct. (and quite possibly other States) use. If we can agree that the ammo background check system isn't going to be "in limbo" from the State's perspective forever, the FOID card system just MAY turn out to be the lesser of several evils. That's all I'm trying to say here. I'd prefer NOT to have to get one but if it becomes a choice between a FOID card and the system they wanted to implement...it's a no brainer.

Fact is gun grabbers make up the system. It's OUR job to find ways to "game" the system and that can't be accomplished by getting pissed off, reading things and meanings into people's statements and opinions that aren't there, or simply quitting the game. That's what they WANT you to do...give up, quit, throw your hands up in disgust. Screw them...FLOOD THEM WITH FOID CARD REQUESTS. There's strength in numbers and if you honestly believe that big brother doesn't already know where you live and what you own, you're in serious denial.

As far as trusting Andy to "cut us some slack"...I trust Andy as much as I trust the Tresmonds and you'd need an electron microscope to accurately measure that degree of trust.

If this goes into effect, they'd have you by the balls If you ever wanted to purchase a firearm. You wouldn't be able to purchase one without the card.
