Can anyone provide me with concrete examples of where a FOID card was used to "register" long guns, used as an identification tool for confiscation, or for ANY other registration database as it would pertain to "keeping track of who bought what caliber ammunition and how much they purchased?"

Gun registration was used as the ruse right before guns were banned is NYC. Not called a FOID card, but a too much information for the wrong people campaign. It's a need to know issue, they don't need to know.

They're not violating your rights if they change the law to make something legal today, illegal tomorrow.

Resistance may be futile but I'll give em a run for their money.

I understand what you're getting at. A FOID card by its very definition is NOT a gun registration card. It's a manner in which people can buy ammo and from what has been stated in this thread long gun purchases.

If that's what it is used for...I have ZERO problem with it in light of the "in-limbo" system we have now.

Lastly....the "need to know" train left the station a LONG time ago.

I see no logical, coherent nor honest purpose to an FOID card. Therefore I'm against them.

I need to see what the FOID card does for anyone. Just because CT allows you to order ammo doesn't mean NY will allow it. Plus what is the real use of the FOID? Do companies have to petition NY for access to the database and in return report to NYS all sales made under that FOID? Who operates or manages the FOID, another state agency? Will the FOID automatically tie into my medical records and prescription database? Will NYS mandate that all long guns be registered as part of the FOID ID? Is this a fall back on the failed registration scheme of the SAFE Act? Will the FOID be used to bypass the federal keeping of the 4473's as NYS will be automatically fed the purchase information and not need to subpeona each FFL? There is just too much unknown and NYS is not known for allowing the serfs any autonomy.

NYS has never in my opinion ever given the little people any benefit that did not cost those little people more than they got.
