Went to the new Gander Outdoors...

Stopped by the Gander Outdoors in Cicero (north of Syracuse) guessing that they are open. There were no signs indicating that they were so I took a chance.

Store was open ( not cluttered) and bright. They did not have as much stuff as Gander did as far a clothing , camping and other "stuff".
The gun counter was close to what it was before. Not quite the selection Gander had but maybe they haven't stocked up yet.
They had the usual brands of firearms & pistols.
Multiples of each model and spaced to fill the counters.
Prices seemed decent . I only recall a couple, one being a Beretta 9M 22 , same price as Buds @ $389 and a ton of High Points @ $150 for compacts ( C9 ) and $155 for full sized ( JHP ) in various calibers.
I liked at a couple of reddots. The Romeo 5X was $249, the Bushnell TRS 25 was $124. The Vortex Viper $229.
Ammo did not scream " bargain" but not overpriced either.
The Remington 00 Buckshot in the 100 rd box was $69.

They had a large selection of AR parts from various name brands like Aero , Magpul, . Some upgraded trigger groups, barrels , etc.

They had plenty of 5.11 gear, kayaks & paddle boards, some footwear , . I did not go to the fishing section.

All in all not bad.

So plenty of gun stuff then? I was wondering since the new CEO seems like a douchebag anti gunner. Just found out that the local Gander Mountain by me is also reopening. This is good since Gander was the place I went for all my misc. firearms needs.

Pretty much the same as Gander Mountain.
If your looking for a 1911 style 22 cal, they have over a dozen Brownings on display. Same with Rough Riders revolvers.

I figure they'll get mor inventory.
Oh yeah. 8 or so Ruger Precision Rifles as well.

Mostly I just hope the have a wide selection of cleaning products and gear. There is a sporting goods store in the area that has the basics covered and they occasionally run a good deal onbthe 55gr HP Match ammo I like but they are otherwise limited.

They don't need a vast selection of firearms, they just need to stock the staples and sell them at a good price and have a few jewels here and there to attract interest.

True true. Decent ammo selection is a plus, at competitive prices. I try to shop the local mom and pop when I can. Great ppl.

Knew they were reorganizing. Kinda had the impression that they were going to be more camping oriented. Wasn't expecting them to still offer firearms for sale.

Maybe they learned from their previous business model that selling a used Glock for about $20 less than a brand new one is silly.

The one in Tonawanda is super close to me so I can’t wait until it opens. We went there for everything except guns usually. I bought two guns from them, but thier pistols were over priced.

Doesn't look like it will. On the website ( Ganderoutdoors) there are 5 in NY.
Cicero ( Syracuse) open now, Kingston ( north of Poughkeepsie April), Watertown ( in May) , Plattsburg (May) and Tonnawanda (Buffalo, July).

I went there today to check it out. It was ok. Ammo selection was ok but not terrible. There were more space on the ammo shelves so maybe they r still getting some in

I stopped by week before last but the doors weren't open. I did stop by the Dickson City store in Pa and the prices seemed better than GM prices were.
The powder prices were decent and ammo seemed competitive. I picked up a few boxes of Fed 6.5 Grendel to try.

I was looking at 10mm auto ammo. Their sig ammo was $1 more than my quick online search. The American Eagle 10mm ammo was almost $10 higher than the same online store. Bought some 10mm at runnings the other day without checking.....paid $16 more than online. Wasn’t happy but I needed it. It pays to shop around.

At that you could hit that on line retailer and pay the $100 for thier subscription and they will ship you anything in any quantity for free. Or you just buy it by the case and free shipping anyway. That’s what I do.
