So i see people post all the time about how long it takes to get their permit back and what they should write etc. Does this sound normal...I called to make my appointment to TURN IN my applocation and they said exactly 6 months from now. September 14th at 11AM. Thats CRAZY! So 6 months to even turn the form in?

She then says, "you know what hold on" and hangs up. I call back and a different girl answers. The original one in the back is just screaming "i already wrote his appointment down just get the phone number".

I have never had such an attitude problem with the pistol permit clerks when I've spoken to them on the phone. The women there have always been very polite, pleasant, and cooperative. Perhaps, they've been purged by the Leftists.

When I called for an appointment to drop off my paperwork back in 2013, I was given a date 9 months from when I called.

Now, whenever anybody tells me that they're event thinking about applying for a permit in Westchester, I tell them to call TODAY and get an appointment to drop off their paperwork. That way, they'll have several months to work on completing their documentation as the date for their appointment approaches. The instructions on the forms are utterly misleading since they tell the applicant to call once their documents are completed without telling the applicant that they'll have to wait another 6 months (or more) after that.

New York...and especially Westchester...really suck.

BTW, as far as our savior Rob Astorino: I have no clue what he's ever done for us with regards to our 2A rights. I believe he's done absolutely NOTHING.

I, honestly, had no problem with them. I actually thought they were very nice. When I called for my appointment in Dec 2015, they gave me an appointment dated for July of 2017, The called me a few months later and pushed the date up too, Nov 2016. Got my permit in Dec2016. Sorry you had to go through that kinda BS.

that's surprising, when i went thru that process, and called weekly like everyone else, they were very nice. I think there was a woman called Angela who was always very helpful. I guess there has been some turnover.

FYI i first called for the Appt in Feb 2016. Original appointment Jan 2017. then it got moved to Oct, then August. Then one day i called and they said - "if you're paperwork is ready, come down at 2 pm today.".. This was in June. License received in August.

People need to start recording this stuff. If I was inefficient and rude to my clients I'd be unemployed. If you were rude to this civil servant you might get a visit from the sheriff. This treatment is nothing more than passive harassment and death by administration. Sounds like this is where the people who failed the toll takers exam go to work. Petty little functionaries paid to constipate the system.

When I applied here in WNY, they told me that it would take 12-18 months because they were backed up, and that it would take 4-6 months to do the background checks; then my file would be put in storage for about 11 months, and then it would go the local PD for their input, and then to the judge for his decision.

When I reminded them the law gives them 6 months, they laughed in my face.

And when I told them that they needed to get to work and follow the law, I was put on their shit list.

I'm still there, because I then had the audacity to complain to their bosses. In the end, I got mine in about 9 months. But certain clerks in the PPO were not happy about it then, and they remain so even now, years later.

In Westchester, they know the law. That's why obstruct us by only doing a few paperwork intake "interviews" each day and give appointments 6 months to a year in the future to simply submit the paperwork. THEN...after submitting the paperwork, they take 6 months to issue the permit. When all is said and done, they draw out the process to well over a year.

The 6 month date of the appointment they originally gave me hasnt come yet. 4 months from phonecall to permit. They might be getting their act together or somethin.

I do know Rob said he hired on more people to handle the backlog. Maybe that's what's pushing things a tad quicker for you guys. Eitherway congrats, that's good news everyone!

Back in the 70's when I got my permit, everything was handled through your local police department. Took 3 months to get my permit. Amendments ran about 2 weeks.

They shuffled the judges. Westchester to Putnam, Putnam to Westchester, Rockland to Westchester, etc. I have friends in Putnam waiting for amendments for 8 weeks to pick up purchases. I'm 6 weeks into waiting for something I purchased in Westchester.

i called for appointment march of last year and my appointment is for march of 2018 so a full year. i called for cancelations they told me once i have everything ready they can schedule me for that month. my pistol class is the 16 so ill be calling the 17
