What do you call a firearm that has no stock and a 16” AR upper?

That would just make an other with a VFG AFAIK. as long as it doesn’t have a detachable magazine.

I don’t believe there are any restrictions on an other with a fixed mag that would prevent any features.

I imagine people are talking about NYS ....

I haven't re-read pl265 in a few weeks, but I think with OAL > 26 inches, a rifled barrel > 16 inches and a fixed magazine then you can do whatever else you want.

I don't know what it is as far as the actual law goes. I just assume if it is anything I want, it is more than likely illegal, and only makes me want it more.

I was thought if it’s a pistol, no matter what length the firearm is it’s still a pistol unless it’s 26” with VFG.

Shockwave and the like aren’t pistols and they do not have VFGs.

Federally a pistol with a VFG is an AOW and needs a tax stamp.

Also, it's important to remember that the ATF and NYS do not remotely agree on the definition of "firearm" or "pistol". You have to use the appropriate definition with the appropriate law.

Well, a VFG will make a pistol into an AOW, but I don't think it does anything to an other.

The letter above says it's fine on an other.
