This I could see happening.

Is it just me or does it also look like there's been some erosion around the firing pin hole? To me it looks like someone has been shooting quite a few hot loads and ignored high pressure signs. But that's just me.
I solved the .223/.330BO problem by having a fixed mag in the 300, the gun is also silver with red letters .300BO and I'm smart enough to not load them into a .223!

Mine are just tools that can easily be replaced.
I dont worry about it. If my friends wanna use my guns i let em. (I have even let people i never met before shoot my suppressed select fire weapons......)
But hey! That is just me.....
Oh! And my handloaded 300 blk rounds do not chamber in 556.
Edit to add: even in the arfcom article the friend said he would pay for it.....see? No harm no foul. No big deal.

Well, I don't treat my guns with kid gloves by any means but anyone that considers their guns "easily replaced" must be very rich indeed.
I could not afford to replace my Galil nor my DD anytime soon. Therfore I try to take very good care of them. However If I let a friend try one of my guns and it blew up I would be far more concerned about the well being of that person and I would consider such a situation to be my fault and not that of the shooter. I suppose the is the instance of squib loads though.
In this case I suppose it's a good thing I don't feel much need to get into 300 BLK.

Easily replaced in the sense that they are available to be purchased......99% of guns are not one off guns. They can be bought easily (obviously you need the appropriate amount if cash).
If you live that close to the line then maybe you should reconsider your allocation of your funds.
I dissagree with your “very rich” statement.......
But your statement supports what i said, you stated you could not replace your guns anytime soon......but it could be done.
In the end of the day it is only a gun. Here are some things NOT easily replaced. Eyes. Fingers. Legs. Arms. Livers. Life. Rich or not. None of these are easily replaced.
I suppose. I would be super bummed though.
Fortunately 7.62x51 and 5.56x45 cant be mistaken for one another.
I think replacing the Galil would require waiting for refund season.

I didn't mean to sidetrack it. I mean, within reason, yeah, I do. But not just anybody.
How much liability do you have in a situation like this, your gun blowing up in someone else's hands?

this is a problem with the 300BO and 5.56 .. they will fit in each other depending on the bullet
my bud has a AR in 300BO and now has a whole upper in 5.56 .. time will tell on keeping up on what upper is on the lower ..

That is a very good question! Hopefully I never find out. If it's your gun and your ammo I'd say a court would determine it to be your problem and if it's hand loads then heaven help you cause your gonna need it!

All of my 300BLK rifles are distinctly different looking and feeling (important in the dark) than my 5.56 rifles. That being said I typically will not bring both to the same range session. Makes it easier not to mess up.
