Thosr rubber dealies hurt my ears after a while. In an indoor range I don't think foam plugs alone are enough.

The Green Triple Flange ear plugs that you see in most sporting goods stores. Then I also use Electronic ear muffs when things get a little louder.

I have a pair of Champion electronic muffs that work fine. I also have foam plugs to use under the muffs if someone is shooting near me at the range (rarely happens but I'm ready)
I use the Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic also! Have them for 6 or 7 years now, Glad they turn off on there own as I always forget to turn them off! They are the most popular brand at my Club too.

Howard Leight (not electronic) for me which I like a lot. If I'm doing bench rest I use standard foam ear plugs.

I spent 11 years in an Environmental Test Laboratory. Some of those Howard Leight muffs may have accidentally fallen into my lunch pails over the years. I'm not sayin, but I'm sayin....

Same here.. They don't fit on my ears too well (don't surround them, just push in on them, not a good seal depending on how my head is positioned). Probably going to pick these up soon to try out.. If I'm at the range alone I have just a cheap (but effective) pair of foam plugs. If someone else is around I'll use electronic.
I noticed only recently that my Howard Leights don't work all that well with my AR. The 'ping' of the buffer I think is too loud, or again could be the lack of seal..

My younger kid and I use HL Impact Sports. I can wear them shooting trap or long guns and easy peasy when using handguns. Like others, I'll double them with some foam if I'm indoors or shooting .44mags. My other kid likes the thin electronic Caldwells. My wife uses just foam but seldom shoots anything bigger than 9mm or the occasional .38s.
I sometimes use my HLs when I mow and plug in Pandora or some other musical source. With chainsaws just foam.

A few notes on this...
First off, MOST people, if at the point where they feared for their life and grabbed their weapon to confront a deadly threat, their hearing will already been subject to stress reaction, their eyes will have suffered tunnel vision, their pulse exploding, andrenaline dumping, knees shaking and possibly experiencing waste elimination. Should the threat be imminent and the need to fire their weapon occur, HEARING LOSS will be the least of their problems.
I personally hate this explanation about firing indoors, I'm not saying hearing protection wouldn't be wonderful, but when I bought my .357Sig this statement I heard a few times and lmao because it's ridiculous in my opinion.
Lastly, if the need to fire the weapon, heaven forbid actually occur, being able to hear the Intruder "afterwards" hopefully won't be an issue (you can all figure what I meant by that)...
I use foamies and a pair of electronic muffs on top of those. I have some pelators and some other brands, I normally use whatever is closets when I reach for the electronics.

I hate ear muffs. Compared to ear plugs they suck considerably in my opinion. I have a bunch of different types of ear plugs I use. I wouldn't waste money on ear muffs.

I have the Impact Sport also. They work well enough, however, I find them very painful after a few hours, They pinch my ears (large) against my glasses. I have been trying to find gel pads for them, but no luck yet. Google hss let me down. Going to try cutting down the earpieces from the glssses.

I usually wear over the ear muffs, non-electronic, of a couple of different brands that I have at home. If I shoot rifles, shotguns or my 44 magnum, I might also opt to use ear plugs under the muffs. On rare occasions, I wear only ear plugs but that truly is a seldom occurrence for me. What is important to me is not the brand or type of ear muff (which, as I understand give better protection than mere ear plugs because of how they completely cover the ear and around it). Instead of brand being all that important, I base my decision on the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) before anything else. I try to get muffs with at least a 29 NRR.
I don't use the electronic muffs because I don't want to be bothered by extraneous sounds that might pester me when shooting. Of course, I still can hear other sounds such as if someone calls a cease fire at the range but the chatter of shooters next to me is not as disturbing when wearing conventional non-electronic muffs as it would be while wearing them. Yet, I may consider buying and wearing electronic muffs for hunting. Thinking about it has me wondering if not only would I still hear game approaching but also if they would help keep my ears warm.

The Howard Light electronic ear muffs work well, even if you ocassionaly forget to take out you hearing aids. If I used hearing protection all those years ago, I probably wouldn't need them now. There used to be a plug type called 'Sonic ear' or something like that by Silencio that worked fairly well, don't know if they are still around.
