What to you do to prevent THEFT at the Gun Range ?

Ditto. I shoot in the woods. If that is tried, the yotes would be happy.Bring a gun. Use that to protect yourself!

I shoot in the woods, but occasionally shoot at a range. I bring what I can handle in front of me or at my feet and the range has electronic targets. Nothing leaves my side and my CCW is always on my side or in my hands.

Never had an issue with people stealing at my local public range, which is ironic considering many in the area have nicknamed it the wild West.
At the Alabama Swamps pubilc range the lanes are right off the road way. While you are down range somone could just drive up snatch your gear and be right off in seconds.I would think it pretty ballsy to "Steal" at a range... Not that you'll get shot doing so, but you are going to get a beating of your life if caught! Then handed over to the police when they arrivejust sayin...

I found another solution to keep all of my guns and rifles in a safe place. Though I have heard about this one before. How about to use a locker for them? That's because everyone is armed at a range. Who would've thunk it that places where everyone is armed have the lowest rates of crime?

Thieves hit everywhere, just some places more the others.
When the need for a fix arrises the theft will take place.
I peronally know two guys that were robbed while out shooting way out in the mountains.
They were out switching targets and these guys came out of the woods, grabbed one of their guns and held them up.
When I go shooting I only have one gun out on the table, and it is EMPTY.
I have my every day carry gun in my pocket and a 357 revolver, maybe a 44 mag revolver or my Glock 20, 10mm with 15 rounds in the mag, and one it the tube.
If it ever comes to that, some one is not going home.
As far as shooting at a public range, that will never happen. Out here you buy a gun from the gun range store you get a free range pass.
I have given at east ten free range passes away.
Next time you go to a indoor range look at the side walls and the ceiling.
Holes every where, there shouldn't be, but they are There.
When shooting out in the woods, it's just me and my grandson or me and generally only one friend.
That way the right hand knows what the left hand is doing.
This weekend will be an exception, I will be shooting with my boss and a close friend. Three of us, that generally don't happen.

I've always shot private acreage. When I go down range I carry slung. I bring a max of 2 guns when alone. With a couple buddies I'll pack a couple of more. This summer I plan on talking to a farmer on a dead end road with some substantial acreage. That's the problem shooting private. Sometimes you need to change the range. The shale pit I used to use is no longer available for use.

Never heard of a problem like this at our club. Over the past several years, I know of 4 instances where a guy left a firearm (all long guns) at the range. One guy has done this 3 different times, one guy left a $ 13 K Perrazzi in the rack after trap shooting one night - found by a member the next morning, - all returned to rightful owners, all happy. Another guy left a cased pistol ON TOP of his car when he left - not sure if he ever found it. Unsupervised range.
