Whats your unobtainable dream gun?

By unobtainable I don't mean illegal in NY. I mean a gun so rare only a few were made or guns that may have never left the drawing board. Or in my case something that was never distributed to a civilian market.

For me its the SVU-AS also known as the OTs-03AS


Its pretty much what it appears to be, a bull pup SVD. They where made in only limited numbers for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Its chambered in 7.62x54mmR and has select fire capability.

Maybe this will seem odd to some but for me its the M1895 Lee Navy. It was so far ahead of its time and had such a unique and interesting action. It's success my well have accelerated American small arms development considerably. I would love to shoot one but none exist in a fireable condition nor is there any ammo that would be safe to fire. Any existing examples are museum pieces.

Are there any detailed plans or schematics for it?

It would probably cost a considerable amount of money but building a functional replica doesn't seem impossible.

It would cost more money than it would be worth. I doubt there are complete papers left and though there are a few rifles in circulation they seem to run 3-4k and up. They just were not in service long enough to be all that many in number. The ammo likewise is exceptionally rare and valuable and even when new from the factory had numerous issues with stability and pressure. The rifle and especially the cartridge were on the outer limits of the tech of the day, too far ahead of the time really. Had the 6mm Navy succeeded I would wager we'd have a some form of 6mm cartridge in service today covering the bases of both 5.56 and 7.62. I know that despite its myriad issues the Marines had a high opinion of both rifle and round.
