mine did not come with a case.
Ask yourself, do you plan on hiking through the desert or a jungle with your rifle slung across your back? If the answer is no, then you don't need a dust cover. The threaded barrel is a no go in the PRNY.Is not having an ejection port dust cover a big deal? I'm finding a few SCR-001's (no dust covers)in stock at a few dealers but the only SCR-011's I'm finding in stock have threaded barrels. Thank you .

Great! Grab some 10 round PMAGs from magpul and some 55 grain FMJ white box Winchester or black box American eagle. Have a blast with it.I've bought an SCR-001 through an out of town dealer. Now I'm going to need advice on ammo and magazines for it! So I'm afraid I'm going to be pestering you guys for quite some time. Thank you in advance.

@DrTom don't worry about pestering these kinds of threads are actually enjoyable ( Actually talking about guns on a gun forum, Who'da thought!!) Your SCR should come with a 5rd mag which you would need for any hunting with a semi auto rifle. As @dsdmmat suggested go with the 10rd Magpul Pmags there $14.99 at Dicks Sports.
Did this rifle come with the Bolt catch? (probably not) It is a drop in accessory from Fight Lite (Ares Defense) for $39.99 it holds the bolt open after the last round has been fired.
OK, Thank you. My understanding is that the 5 round magazines are ok for hunting but the 10 round magazines are only legal at a firing range ;is that right? is there any limit to the number of 10 round magazines I can own? Can I have them loaded prior to to going to the range? Do they have to be metal magazines?
With respect to ammo, can I buy online? If so, is there a limit to how much I can buy?( I'm not looking to buy thousands of rounds just a few hundred) How much ammo would I need for an hour at the range?
The bolt catch sounds like a needed accessory; are there any others for example that make loading ammo into magazines easier that I should get?
Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
Tom
Correct 5rd mags for hunting and the Un-Safe Act limits us to 10rd mags for all other uses!
Best to keep ammo separate (in ammo can or such) from rifle going to and from the Range.
The 5 rd mag that came with mine was metal and I picked up 2 more 5rd mags that were also metal. After watching a few video on YouTube it seems the the Magpul Pmags (plastic) will close the bolt when a full mag is inserted with the Bolt-catch (I have not sent my gen #1 out for the trigger upgrade yet, and they were sending it back with the Bolt-catch)
For just a few 100 rounds at a time you may catch some good sales local.
Does it matter whether I use .223 or 5.56 ammo in the SCR since it is caliber spec'ed at .223/5.56 ?
Thank you .
Tom
You can shoot .223 in 5.56mm but not the other way around without potential damage.Does it matter whether I use .223 or 5.56 ammo in the SCR since it is caliber spec'ed at .223/5.56 ?
Thank you .
Tom
It is always best to do as the owners manual says!
@DrTom you have not gotten any wrong info on ammo for the SCR , The owner manual does say *223/5.56x45mm NATO*
