I'm on instagram a lot and I watch a lot of gun stuff. I see these people that are all operator and they shoot 4 bullets and drop the mag, then they unload the next full mag, why? What's the point of the 4 bullets
That's why I like clear or windowed mags, makes that less necessary.I believe what you are referring to is called a Tactical Reload

Yeah, I've seen that too. If one is going to emulate what is seen on youtube or other such it should start with the "insert, tap, tug" mag load sequence. Then one doesn't suffer the embarrassment of the "Insert, fire, pick up magazine of ground" sequence.YES the ole "operator videos on you tube"
Are they non stop chamber and magazine checking, Are they scanning for other threats before holstering there fire arm, I act as an RO often at shooting events and watch some of these "operator's" in action, Only to watch when the timer rings they have a dead magazine loaded, Magazine not seated,Safety on, So busy with there chamber checking they don't fire on the timer. I am not sure yet what an "operator" is yet. But they do dress tacitly COOL .
It could be situational I suppose. What If I need a full mag and all I have are a bunch of partials? Assuming I've bothered to retain them. For regular folk I think training to shoot till dry and practicing a rapid reload is more practical. It's never unnecessary. If you are in a gunfight and you have the opportunity to insert a full mag take it. That extra round or two could save your life.

Happens to everybody. I myself have a bad habit of going to squeeze off a shot only to find the saftey engaged. I'm working on it. I'm looking into getting some training classes in this fall.Heyyyyyy, are you spying on me?
I just did that yestetday with my 1911!!!
First time ever.
Insert, fire, mag on ground!!
Good thing the target was unarmed this time.

That's my point too. Those of us not clearing rooms for a living are probably better served by firing till dry and reloading. In a self defense situation you will most likely never need more than one mag but it's good to train for all seniarios. The partially loaded mags go into the dump pouch or your pockets.
I'm planning on it:Get a dump pouch so you aren't dropping them on the ground. They issued them to me on the last two deployments.
That they are all operator(s) part has me laughing so hard I just about pissed myself. The gun gurus and now the operators are on Instagram now with apparent training videos? How impressive. Sorry but I just had to get it out of me or die laughing.I'm on instagram a lot and I watch a lot of gun stuff. It occurs to me that much of my previous firearms training revolved around whacking magazines in varing ways. Load magazine then bang the spine on your helmet, load into rifle then whack the bottom, malfunction? Then start SPORTS, first step being "slap upward on the magazine". I would seem that the best thing to do is to treat your magazines like the proverbial red headed step child.Yup. I see lots of guys fail to fully seat an ar mag during competitions. I know when i hear the bolt drop. It sounds totally different.
Funny thing is even when you tell them TAP then rack, all they do is rack....click.....rack......click.
I have a problem with my 10rd 1911 magazines. If I slap them in they will go too far into the gun and jam the slide up. So I usually have to plan my reloads when shooting competition and reload when the last round is in the chamber. Its so ingrained into me to slap the magazine in with force I cant stop it even when I know there's a problem.Yup. I see lots of guys fail to fully seat an ar mag during competitions. I couldn't deal with that. Smacking magazines is something I don't even think about anymore.I have a problem with my 10rd 1911 magazines. I figure the added stress in competition is good training. I will not ever use those magazines for anything other than range time because of the flaw. I think I might be able to push the stop on the magazine out farther to correct the problem, but I have yet to figure out how to get to it enough to push the tang out.I couldn't deal with that. Try Wilson Combat 10 rounders, they have a little tab to prevent that.I have a problem with my 10rd 1911 magazines. If I slap them in they will go too far into the gun and jam the slide up. Funny, my Glock never does that!Happens to everybody. I myself have a bad habit of going to squeeze off a shot only to find the saftey engaged. I'm working on it. I'm looking into getting some training classes in this fall.
