Still Amerika though.
I remember you now. You had some pretty "interesting" takes in another thread, some of which you deleted as I was trying to reply to them, so you trying to play a pro gun but coy devil's advocate here is amusing.
Still Amerika though.
Most first world countries are smaller than a single state.Other 1st world countries simply do not have monthly school/mass shootings. Reading the international daily newspapers for the last 20 years bears this out. We are markedly different.
Seems you have identified the best solution to the problem.Yup, take away all the criminals and the US has the lowest gun violence in the world.
Why is this?Other 1st world countries simply do not have monthly school/mass shootings. Reading the international daily newspapers for the last 20 years bears this out. We are markedly different.
Here in the US, everyone has a label:
African American,
Gay-American,
Trans-American,
Hispanic-American,
Mexican-American,
Jewish-American,
And the list goes on and on.

Ahhh...but other countries with fewer guns still have high, if not higher, per-capita violence. That violence is not "gun violence," though. It tends to be committed with blunt instruments and knives.Agree, No denying it ... Other countries don't have this problem because they don't have the guns. Freedoms come at a cost. shootings being one of them.
Why is this?
Ive noticed that when 2 people are stabbed to death in Japan, its national news and a very big deal.
In the USA 5 people can be shot execution style in Chicago and most of us are like, "well, thats Chicago for ya".
At this point most Americans are so desensitized to violence that change will be difficult, we are not mortified or even upset by mass murder anymore.
Sure we all say, "that sucks....what a tragety.......damn monsters......" but then have a snack and go to bed.
In most civilized countries 50 people being killed in a nightclub would be the worst crime in the nations history and mourned by all for years. Around here its a Saturday night.
Things need to change but as long as the liberals and media have people believing its a gun problem and not a people problem, we are doomed to a very bloody, sad future.
Another thing Id like to mention is this...
If all guns were banned, crime and murder would not stop. Id be very scared to see what criminals would come up with to replace guns to commit mass murder.
Guns are a horrible device to create mass casualties. At most mass shootings there are 100s of rounds fired but very few targets hit and even fewer deaths.
A bomb is not so hard to use. Bombs are easy to make and will cause mass casualties with almost zero skill needed.
As of now most mass killers believe they will be like Rambo and mow everyone down, a bomb WILL mow everyone down.

It'sdecline in values , decline in family setting, drugs, movies, lazy people with too much time and government support, no self respect, "me first" syndrome...UI could go on
No one gives a dam about the people the coeixist with. I'm all for a small quiet town where everyone looks out for each other.
It's
Compare Switzerland and America. I chose to pick on the Swiss because they have the most comparable rates of private firearm ownership.
The swiss, are proudly Swiss. Period. They all buy into the notion they are alike, share similar values, have similar goals etc... They are proud of their country and culture, generally speaking there is low poverty, above average wealth per capita and a high standard of living.
Now in america, the progressive socialists have been spending decades getting Americans to hate and revile each other. Their attempts to skew history and cause anger through their divide and conquer mentality to gain increased power has damaged this country. The democrats benefit when they attract new angry voters that have been told the rich white people have been keeping them down this time etc... There are too many fractured homes. Too many non parent, parents. Too many single mothers. Blame feminism (another epic liberal failure of unintended consequences). Blame the war on drugs and a convoluted legal system. Blame Americans losing their common culture and fracturing into various ethnic, socio, religious and other cultural subsets who all get told the others are screwing them. Blame the great society for literally creating an entire class of people that is now generations removed from knowing how to provide for themselves and taking care of themselves without government assistance. Blame a loss of self pride and self betterment. Blame a loss of traditional Christian values.
I could go on and on.
Compare Norway Sweden Denmark Belgium , per capita and the main difference is ghettos , the second main reason is cultural differences .That is something most European country's lack (until the recent swamp of Syrians.) there is deep hatred in our country between cultures that we don't see in Europe.
You said what i was thinking, but in a much nicer way.Make up of people in this Country is a big one.
We are not a unified people compared to many other Nations.
I could go on and on about this all night.....
We have many, many more single mothers, especially in the inner cities; while the Moms are doing what they do, the kids are running the streets. Too many fathers are in jail. The street gangs end up raising so many kids. They are not raising them correctly.
We have a welfare system that is out of control. We have a VERY large portion Americans who are sucking off of a system that they NEVER pay into. They just keep taking and taking. The more they take, the more they feel entitled to stuff. They do not care where they get the stuff; the Government, stealing it makes no difference too so many.
We have so many in the US that have no work ethic, very low morals and suck in general. Many of these nations that you speak of have a population that is proud; they are proud of what they are and of their personal successes.
We have a justice system that is broken. We have very, very confusing laws. We have 50 individual States filled with laws, most other Country's, one nation, one set of laws.
Our “extravagant diversity” is also to blame. So many Americans want to be this or they want to be that. For example:
In Japan, most people are just, Japanese.
In Germany, most consider themselves to be, Just German.
And so on...
Here in the US, everyone has a label:
African American,
Gay-American,
Trans-American,
Hispanic-American,
Mexican-American,
Jewish-American,
And the list goes on and on.
We are a people not of one but many.

You simply moved the goal posts on my first post. You didn't even reference 'mass shootings' in your original post. Are we talking about gun violence as a whole or mass shootings? The arguments are not the same, even if they have some similarities.
If you look at what constitutes a "mass shooting" some serious number manipulation becomes apparent. Some of these gun control studies will count an incident in which a criminal fleeing across a school property while carrying, but not shooting or even displaying, a gun as a school shooting.Other 1st world countries simply do not have monthly school/mass shootings. Reading the international daily newspapers for the last 20 years bears this out. We are markedly different.

Here in the US every few weeks/days we have a mass shooting. Not the case 50 years ago when I was a kid.
This is just not reality as compared to other 1st world countries.
Here is the actual problem. Communities have broken down. There is no support system for people who need them, there is no help for people with emotional problems, all of these people fall through the cracks to a completely different world. Depression, anxiety, violence etc all rule these little worlds these people fall through.
Social media creates an environment where this person can suddenly feel included. They find a sense of belonging in a place where no one belongs which really isn't always a bad thing, but it can be. This is where you find a lot of liberals who feel left behind.
Another one of those little worlds is more urban. Gangs. Drugs, violence, a sense of family that they're not getting at home. They have something they can fight for an be proud of and that puts a shirt on their back at the same time.
You think Americans being recruited by isis etc don't get caught up in that because they feel they've been left behind?
Then you have people that don't find a home in places like that, they slip through the cracks of the crack communities and you end up with these loner type people with serious mental disorders who hear voices and go into theaters and shoot them up. Bad news. You leave someone who's on their way down to their own devices and they're going to fall a long ways.
Communities are the biggest problem we have. That's where violence and crime come from. No one is a part of anything anymore and when you're left out you go looking. What you find might make you feel good but that doesn't mean it is a good place to land.
