My license says nothing about conceal.
I think he made fair points for open carry but they all mean nothing when it comes to tactical advantage.
Hint hint, there isn't a specific law stating you must conceal. I have had this conversation many times.

I would 100% open carry if I had the option to do so without going through the bullshit ass raping that is this state's CCW bullshit.
My saratoga county permit also has a c. Doesn't mean it's concealed. NY has 2 types of permits - carry or possess on premises. It's just been assumed that you have to carry concealed.
Anyone on here have a possess on premises permit and want to share whether or not there's a p on theirs?

Is that a county law? Because there are zero county licenses only a NYS license and according to NYS law there is nothing on the books about concealed. If you know where please enlighten me.

Legally, I don't know what the status is in NY, or my county specifically. Practically, I find it very likely that my license would be revoked were I to carry openly outside of a range or while in the field, hunting.
If you want to do so, please have a lawyer on retainer and somewhere reliable to accept donations towards your legal challenge so you can sue the state for revoking your license. I'd throw a hundred bucks towards a case like that, but I wouldn't want to have be the plaintiff myself.

PA doesn't require a permit to open carry (rendered somewhat moot since as soon as you enter a vehicle it is not considered "concealed" from a legal standpoint) but a very seldom open carry. Once in the occasional blue moon I open carry to and from the range and once I wore a pistol openly on my hip while sitting outside my door step as I kept an eye on my then neighbor's abusive POS boyfriend as he moved out but that's it.

Iirc, you can only own/carry a pistol with a permit. Permit is for concealed carry, so it seems as though you cannot open carry as there is no permission slip for it.

Open Carry would be a winnable Court case, But you would lose all your firearms ( As per Safe-Act! ) for the duration of the trial ( Trials! ) and who knows the cost $$$$.

If the permit is only for concealed carry as you say, then you would have to conceal the pistol on your person 24/7.
It is illegal to have a pistol in your safe at home without the permit, and that is obviously not "concealed carry". Ergo, the permit is (as it says) to have (possess) and to carry concealed.
The second part was written because prior to the permit it was legal to possess and open carry, but *not* to carry concealed in many places. The "and carry concealed" language was added specifically to authorize that activity. As I pointed out with the "have" part, carrying concealed is obviously *not* the only thing authorized.
The permit exempts you from prosecution for possession under PL265. To be prosecuted for something else that something else would have to be prohibited under some other statute.
There is *no* statute making open carry illegal in NY. Without a permit it is prosecuted the same as an unpermitted gun in your safe at home. If your permit covers the safe queen, it covers the OC gun just the same.

My guess is the barrel is longer than 16 inch's.
Because there is no law forbidding it from occurring, just like there is no law forbidding open carry of a handgun.
