Bingo. All due respect, and I mean that sincerely, I think you need to clarify this statement. When buying a gun and hoping it will retain its value or as an investment, you need to ask yourself how desirable it is as a used gun and what is the current market. I have been buying guns, new and used, for more than 20 years, not as long as many others on here, but I have never seen a mass produced polymer framed gun, or gun loaded down with tons of synthetic furniture, go up in price.
Not one of my firearms was purchased for investment purposes. They were purchased for protection and for sport.
Any rifles I've got are not works of art...they're the firearm equivalent of a 2x4 with nails driven through the business end. They're functional and reliable. But, there's nothing special about them. They are all mass-produced models that will most certainly decrease in value with time...but will be invaluable if they're needed in a a bad situation.
