There is something deeply wrong with the functional role of the supreme court in relation to the rest of the government. Either the founders turned a blind eye to this reality, or didn't see it coming. Whichever the case is, this morbid lottery should end. We should call a constitutional convention and either severely amend, or remove, the powers of SCOTUS.

We need term limits and a balanced budget amendment first. Those are two things that our friends in Congress will never willingly do and we can't even get the States to use their article 5 powers to call a States Convention to circumvent the Feds. If anything, as Congress (without term limits) becomes more and more marginalized by the Executive branch, you will see more and more weight put onto the rulings of the supreme court and more and more legislation from the bench. We will likely see an expansion on the number of justices with each turnover of power between the parties. It will start with the dems when they regain power.

I don't like mob rule, since it's demonstrably an objective fact that more than half of this country are imbeciles. 11,000 climate scientists agreed on it.

You're right about SCOTUS. i don't know what a good solution is. The court is hopelessly political.

As for RBG she's 86 and has survived cancer like four times. She'll be on the court another 10, 20 years easily at this rate.

It's not funny but true.

There are jobs where your mental cognition need to be solid or you can make bad decisions that have horrible ramifications.

Example, air traffic controllers have a mandatory retirement. Why is that? Well because at a certain point the average 65 year old doesn't have a sharp enough mind to keep up with the information and decision making.

Sure the elderly have wisdom, they've seen and experienced a lot. But at the same time they beging growing out of touch and at some point their mental skills diminish.

We don't need 70+ year olds doing anything of importance. Go play golf or euchre and enjoy retirement.
Congress and SCOTUS need term and/or age limits (yes I know president Trump's age) he's an outlier but I still want someone younger to carry the torch when his time is over.

Well in all honestly the 300 million do make the rules by voting in who represents them and the lower court folks in most cases. Then some judges are appointed by your representatives. I agree with you this process is broken and the courts and the representatives go astray of the constitution and screw us. The 9 on the SC is a last line of defense.

I don't have a HAZMAT endorsement. I still need a DOT physical every year. It would be 2 years but I was prescribed a CPAP which automatically bumps you down to a yearly interval.

Sorry but it's rare as hens' teeth to see an 86 year old still vibrant--both physically AND mentally. RBG sure as shit doesn't qualify. She can't stay awake and talks like she's in slow motion. There's just no way her mind is working that well now.

That won't do anything to address the legislating from the bench which most of them are guilty of (the left more so). The 14th amendment is their path to allow basically whatever the hell they want.
