How is the magazine's reliability?
I have Croatian steel mags from @Bullet Guy. They are flawless. I love this rifle, and I built mine. It’s not a complete PSA job.
The barrel and bolt are Stoner from Midway. It was an AR before I managed to get ahold of the upper, lower and bolt carrier from PSA. I swear to god when I re-built it and mounted my red dot, it was only a hair off from the original AR sighting.

I'm considering this for a battle rifle. Within 200 hundred yards or less, it's a slower moving .308 without the blast and concussion. It's good on barriers with cheap Russian crap ammo and not terrible ballistic wise with the same crap ammo as evidenced in countless wars.
I just have to research to see how the magazines are in 10 rounders. I'm sure you got standard capacity with the curve.

I do, but I’ve only shot them to check functionality. He got me a 5rd from the same manufacturer that I mostly use and it’s perfect also.

Cool. I'm definitely looking into it!
I tried other mags and had issues, ended up giving them to a friend. Definitely talk to @Bullet Guy if you build it.

The AKs are very handy and dependeable firearms but not the most accurate and in the long term do not last as long as the AR. I mean they all need maintenance but is not the same swapping
an AR bolt or barrel than taking apart an AK and then re-welding the receiver's guide/rails
that get a lot of wear. Same thing servicing a barrel.
I guess for 150 yards it doesn't matter but a good 5.56 ammo is going to outshoot the AK round from an AK at everthing
else but even if one has a whisper or a pistol round is not going to be totally shorthanded within short distances.
I guess the main issue is whether we are in NYS or not and whether one can use a full size 30 round magazine or not.
Want more fire power? The 5.55 with a few hicap mags is very easy and effective w/o too much weight.
But if you have magazines of 10 then one can do a lot more damage with every single 308 bullet so one should replace rate
of fire for accuracy and more lethal impact.
When we hit the boars with a 308 they go down fast whereas the 7.62x39 or 5.56 might need several follow up. This is an area
where the 6.8 really shows a difference. For a 16" type of carbine the 6.8 makes a lot of sense. I know is not in your
short list but in case others are interested.
These guys below host hunts every week and use the 6.8 almost exclusively but if they are not using the 6.8 they will
go with the 308 in 16". They use short barrels, suppressors and thermal imaging and take thousands of heads
every year. As you know the infestation of ferral hogs in the agricultural areas is brutal so they have open season
all year and work with the ranchers the same as we have in other states.
Todd who is the business owner developed some amazing loads for the 11" 6.8 using AA and 85gr TSX.
Here is a test he did of the 308 commercial barnes ammo. They do not get paid for reviewing this, it is just
material that goes into their channel.
