WML who's rocking them on their EDC

Ok so another pretty heated debate these days (almost having 3 sides) who is rocking a weapon mounted light in their EDC.

If so what, and why

If not why?

Personally I am, and currently it is an Inforce APL (2nd gen)

So that's the what, next the why, first there is the whole target identification blah blah blah, but secondary could also be more of a deterrent, as you can in some aspect control a person with sensory overload causing them to MAYBE reevaluate their life choices. With that being said hoping to ditch the apl and it's low lumens count for a Surefire X300u.

One of the other secondary benefits to running a wml (depending on set up) is the addition of a standoff device, In the unlikely chance of a close rentetion shoot the light can help prevent the firearm from going out of battery, one more reason I'm hoping to go to the x300u

Downsides. Cost and cost if holsters

I'm thinking about pitting a Surefire XC1 on the PPQ. I've never liked the idea of having a bog ol bulbous doohicky hanging off the front of my pistol and that model seems pretty svelte. At the cost of light output of course.

No WML on EDC guns or HD handguns. We carry separate lights (Fenix or Streamlight) anyway so we do not have to draw our weapon to use our light. I am more comfortable with an unattached light, I like the option of holding the light away from my center of mass (why provide a target), I conceal much easier with a naked handgun, I do not always have to have a muzzle point at what I want to illuminate, I got great nightsights on handguns. I do, however, mount a Surefire on my HomeDefense long guns.

Sorry, I don't do extra stuff on my EDC. I keep it simple (Iron sights) and stock pistol.

This. If I need a light, it's already out. I keep a Streamlight MicroStream in my pocket as part of my EDC gear.

I see some that have a light going out an inch or so past barrel. Might as well have a longer barrel. I had a trl-6 on my shield. I liked it but no longer carry striker fired guns.

Surefire XC1 on G19 is muy bueno! Only wish the G26 could do the same.

The X300U is of course the gold standard by which all other lights are compared. Just a bit big for appendix carry.

No light I see no reason for a light. I don't go many places at night and I live in a city so chances are there are street lights. I try to carry a flashlight with me, but don't always. Also a light just makes it bigger and heavier. Also more to think about with batteries and turning it on. I also think a light could be a hazard. Perp could shoot to the light and you might not have seen him yet. Criminals don't have lights on their guns so they don't have an advantage. I do have good night sights though and I carry 2 extra mags. I'd rather have more rounds than the bad guy than run out of bullets and have a flash light on my gun. I know I could carry both, but there's only so much I want to have on me.

No light currently. All my small pocket carry guns I see no need for the added bulk. However, I am considering an Inforce APLc for my Sig P320c. A little disappointed TREX arms doesn't make a holster for this gun plus the APLc as I always try to be somewhat size conscious with my EDC but I may also consider a larger light in the future.

T.rex doesn't make one Really? Hell they made one for the P-07 and P-09 and when I ordered mine the p07 gen2 was new and almost no one knew of it or made holsters for them

They make a holster for the APL but not the APLc or "compact" version. They only make that holster for Glocks which I think it says in their drop down menu.

I had my eye on the APLC only because it wouldn't stick out past the muzzle of the gun so it wouldn't change the way the gun carries as all. I might end up contacting TREX Arms to see if they'd consider adding that option or not.

I wouldn't be surprised if they would do something up for you i don't think it's be to hard

I don't think I'd be a big fan of a light on a EDC. Now a gun that mostly stayed in the house, say the nightstand drawer...I could see that. For what it's worth I've come to be a bigger fan of lights over lasers.

You nean lights with lasers? I see that the Surefire XC2 is comboed with a laser, but I wonder if lasers aren't a gimmick or a crutch.

KISS keep is simple...you know the rest. The simpler the machine the less likely something will go wrong. If my life depended on it I prefer the machine to work.

The Glock APLc does fit quite nicely on the P320 and so does the universal fit. One mounts about a 1/16 of an inch more than the other.

I like the idea of a WML on a gun for home defense so I'm seriously considering it for carry as well just to keep it easy instead of constantly adding a removing a light. When I get my TREX Arms Raptor in the mail and see how I like the carry of it (which I think I'll love) I'll determine if I'll bug TREX Arms to make a P320C holster w/ APLc or not. I gotta say though I think it looks great on a P320C.

That's my point exactly. Nothing inherently wrong with lasers (they're cool and useful) but I'd rather be able to totally see what I'm shooting and not just a dot.

Well there are several models that combine both into the one unit.
