If you're trying to reduce the number of killings in the US, a semi-auto ban is the wrong approach.
Half an million Americans died in the Civil war.
Pretty sure a semi auto ban would lead to a lot more than that.
A lot of people would consider it open season on anyone involved with passing or enforcing it, or protecting them.

I think the word is out to come troll this forum. Two new accounts within a very short time span with the first post having the same framing. "Would you give up this if that". Funny thing is that they probably come from other forums like the moron incubator where if we were to do the same we would immediately get banned. I would, and always have said don't feed these trolls but it always falls on deaf ears. Expect more and more of these accounts to sprout up.

I agree with the OP's opening statement "Mass killings cannot be stopped" and that is a major reason why people need firearms to protect themselves and others! We (USA) have been kinda lucky as the mass shootings we've had here are mostly from poorly trained 'lone wolf' types. What would happen if a few of these despicable bastards got together and managed to get into a concert or football game? As citizens we have followed the rules as bestowed upon us by management for years. The company has gone to shit and just about bankrupt. Management continues to blame the rank and file for their generational failures, but they all have golden parachutes.
But we're not a business. The blind leadership that runs the country sucked up to the voters that elected them and what's worse that same group at the top may have rigged it to win no matter what in the future.
They made the rules creating the opportunities for mass shootings to succeed and yet pretend to be our saviors.

How about target the government that created "gun free zones" that only people with good intentions follow. Target the govt that closes mental health facilities, target the govt that allows violent criminals to go free because of the broken cj system, target big media that is the propaganda arm of the govt stoking tensions/hatred/division/fear, and the list goes on. But it does not belong on the 2nd Amendment.

There are plenty being spoke about at the federal level as well. The thread is about giving up assault rifles and NYS already did so I assumed this was federal speak, but yes you’re correct on Huggins being a US rep.
On the state level there are less republicans than would matter so we’re doomed state wide. Bites today anyway so too late, just as they want.

Yet any thug, lunatic or terrorist can walk inside a school unchallenged and start shooting. Why nothing has been done about that?

I don't know this Brad Fosser, but he could not be more wrong.
And, contrary to his opinion, I bet the majority of gun owners would NOT agree with his infringements.
He is, as many are, reacting from emotion, compounded because he has a child at the same age as the victims. He may be ok with roadblocks and infringements, but I am not. And I'm sure people who DID need their gun THAT DAY to protect themselves from harm would also disagree, if they had survived.

Train and arm teachers, administrators and private citizens who desire to defend themselves and those under their care from all threats.
Secure school grounds, add armed marked and unmarked security resources throughout.
Empower police officers to respond immediately to threats and take action vs retreating, falling back and "organizing/staging" while awaiting marching orders from higher command who are likely weighing political fallout against response.
Enforce existing laws and take hardened approach to criminal behavior.
Mandatory bail and eliminate parole for violent offenders.
Stop normalizing deviant behavior.
Eliminate/restrict violent games/videos/movies/entertainment to age appropriate audiences (and no I don't mean 12 to 16 year olds).
Teach gun safety and defensive use to kids encourage them to speak up if they know something isn't quite right about friends and peers.
Encourage love of God, country and honor in all public schools.
So you require mind altering drugs to be "normal" ... keep them the F away from guns and any other weapons (ok admittedly not sure how to go about this but it has to start with parenting and teachers, counselors etc). Incarcerate parents who give access to or buy their troubled kid guns who then go on to create these atrocities.
Encourage military for troubled kids who lack guidance and require strict discipline. If it don't work out lock them up.
Eliminate all restrictions on guns and magazines etc to mentally stable and law abiding citizens.
