I was just called by “Yonkers Police Department “. Very offensive call. Asking for donations to contribute towards the fight for gun control. He specifically said illegal guns killing our children. Wanted 5k, I was like #metoo. Then he said come on sir, 2500? I was like #metoo. I don’t know if it’s a hoax or not, but he knows my address. Anyone else get a call? Is this a thing now?

Gotta be a scam. Never heard of any PD soliciting like that especially for those $ amounts. Just like when natural disasters occur, some scums are looking to scam people and profit.

I have never, ever, had a legitimate (though annoying) solicitor for a police department, fire department, or other social cause ask for anything close to that amount.

Yup. Have a voicemail from him also where he gives the wrong number and the caller ID says Bronxville.

It was available, it said BRONXVILLE.

scam, that happened before (though not asking for gun control donations) it was something else. Yonkers PD actually sent mail to us saying there was a scam going on and to watch out for it. idk, maybe 7-8 years ago.

anyone who calls i promise to write them a check and send it right away. I keep them talking as long a possible and will only pay by check, because that is safe. i ask them about their family and tell them about my fake vacation i just got back from. i figure i am saving another person if I eat up their time. (i love being an asshole!)

Both numbers he called from were similar to Yonkers police nunbers 914 377 xxxx. I called the second number blocked a few times. A woman with a sweet voice answers, I giggle and hang up.
