Well, if Pelosi and Trump both claim to be POTUS. There are a lot of people in the government who will have to decide which one they will believe.

If we have 9 SCOTUS justices it would be very difficult for 2 people to claim legitimacy since any power struggle would inevitably end up there.

But if one side claims that the most recent SCOTUS appointment is invalid as well....

I think they will only need to decide between following orders or doing what is right. There will be consequences for simply following orders.

This is going to be decided by SCOTUS, with 3 Trump judges.

Oval = 80%+ chance Biden takes it
Senate = Moderately favored to democrats taking it.

Senate staying in republican control is more up for grabs than keeping the oval office.

New Congress term begins January 3 2021 when a new Speaker will be chosen. Speaker is 3rd in line of succession when President and VP become incapacitated or killed. What if they can't agree on who is speaker of the house either ?

The odds are very low, but the potential for a catastrophe of biblical proportions exists here.

Well, the problem in most of these cases isn't that we don’t have a POTUS, or speaker, or whatever.

The line of succession is clear about those cases.

I'm having a hard time reconciling the polls with the evidence at the rallies. This just doesn't make sense, but it doesn't necessarily mean the polls are wrong.

Liberal Progressives are scared to turn out in public places due to COVID-19.

That does not mean that they will not turn out, in force, at the polls and via mail-in ballots to oppose Trump.

I use 538 as my main polling source because they have proven themselves to me over several elections.

They aggregate a bunch of mainstream polls and they weight those polls based upon their accuracy, so some are given high faith and some are pretty junky so play less weight in the 538 algorithm.

They are not perfect, and their model does allow for a republican sweep of congress and the presidency, but they are just saying it's highly unlikely.
