You need to read up on the Osterweil v Bartlett decision. If you have a valid NY CCW permit and then move out of NY you are legally allowed to keep it as you come back to NY part time. Of course in NY different counties do it as they see fit. Some say no issue and send you your replacement permit to your address in MO or wherever. Others may insist that you get a NY non driver ID with your NY address and present that to them. That’s what my county did. I now have a replacement NY CCW permit with my NY address on it, along with a NY Non Driver ID with the same address, and they send all correspondence to my domicile (primary residence) outside of NY state.

I'm with you as many others in my circle. The only "compromise" I made was to by a smaller Glock for summer carry that I wanted anyway. If I'm the case against the state so be it.
