Its extremely sad how only the good, law abiding citizens are affected by these unconstitutional laws. These forums are loaded with those people every day looking for information to make sure they do not break any of the constantly changing laws, injunctions, stays, etc. The criminals obviously do not care. The ppl writing and passing these laws obviously do not care that we, the law abiding citizens, are the ONLY ones negatively affected. ALSO, there is mountains of evidence and data out there that show legal CCW holders do not commit crimes. I think the stat is something like .2% of crime is committed by them. That's one-fifth of one percent. Extremely frustrating and disheartening......

They do care that we are the only ones impacted because that’s their plan. They don’t care if gang members kill people because the gang members care little about what politicians do and they won’t put up a fight if it ever came to that. The liberals who want to take away our guns want and need the criminals committing crimes to back up their stance on why they need our guns.

They can’t because the left is arguing right now at the Supreme Court that only Christian’s can deny gays and trannies wedding cakes and wedding pictures. They claim others can’t. This case tied into it with them not being allowed to ban guns from churches. I know they are separate cases but I feel this is the bone we will be tossed on both cases.

“The laws which forbid men to bear arms … only disarm those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes,” Cesare Beccaria, an Italian scholar and founder of the modern science of criminology, wrote in his 1764 treatise on the subject. “These laws make the victims of attack worse off and improve the position of the assailant.”
In a new pamphlet from Encounter Books’ Broadside series, Cato associate policy analyst David B. Kopel expounds upon Beccaria’s classic insight to investigate why the right to keep and bear arms has always been central to the American identity.
Kopel begins by exploring the history behind our right to bear arms. Self‐defense, he argues, is the most fundamental of all natural rights — an inherent human claim that predates the Constitution itself. Starting with the colonies, Kopel traces the social and legal foundations of this 400‐year‐old practice — uncovering everything from the racist origins of gun control, to the founding of the National Rifle Association, to the modern debate surrounding firearms.
“The right to keep and bear arms is not a 1791 anachronism,” he explains. “It is alive in the hearts and minds of the American people.”
Turning next to the philosophy behind gun bans, Kopel directs his attention to what he calls “pacifist‐aggressives” — people who use the power of law to push their own beliefs against initiating defensive force. “The gun prohibition movement is ultimately based on an authoritarian wish,” he writes, “where gun ownership is a sporting privilege for a few and not a right of the people.” This ideology has little basis in the Second Amendment.
“In much of the world, the armed masses symbolize lawlessness; in America, the armed masses are the law,” Kopel continues. Although some nations treat law as a vehicle of the state, the American tradition views law as the servant of the people — locating the power of enforcement in the citizens themselves and thereby granting less power to the government. As such, “dispersion of physical power in society is both a cause and an affirmation of dispersion of political power.”
Kopel concludes by reducing this critical issue to its root. “What is ultimately at stake is the same question that precipitated the American Revolution: whether the American people are the sovereigns in their own country or whether they should be ruled from above, for their own good, according to the supposedly benevolent commands of the elitist rulers of a top‐down, European‐style society.”

And yet we have Whorechul, who has an unlimited amount of power to push her beliefs - and a contingent of Democrats who are so afraid of bucking the established system and losing their positions of power that they utterly refuse to consider the will of their constituents and vote along straight party lines on every issue concerning firearms. We also have a majority of people completely willing to be led from the top down because they no longer comprehend that politicians are REPRESENTATIVES and will always vote to maintain their comfortable, safe bubble of ignorance and bliss. We missed out by one fucking day when Utica PD refused all new license applications. At this point in time, I don't think we'll ever get our permission slips.

So the UPD isn't doing new finger printing for in city residents? This is news to me... I do remember they stopped it during the pandemic. Did they not resume it?
As far as I'm aware, the OC Pistol office is still processing permits.

CourtListener doesn't have it as the stay hasn't yet made its way to the district court's docket. For whatever reason I'm unable to get CourtListener to sync with the Second Circuit Court of Appeals docket. @2Aupdates on Twitter has the order.

We had 100% of our applications done two days before Whorechul's Manifesto, but our fingerprinting got delayed because the only office left with appointments had the guy call out sick. We got them done on the same day the "law" changed, and UPD sealed the box and posted that no applications would be accepted. In Oneida County I have not found one single instructor prepared to, or willing to - offer the 16 hour class. I also know of no ranges that will do the qualification because people with no license are forbidden to possess a pistol and the "law" offers no alternative, no remedy, no insurance, no protection for them to allow it on their premises. Fingerprinting is also done by a 3rd Party regardless - another $100 on top of the already asinine expenses we've incurred - for nothing.

I have a few folks that live in Oneida County and have always said that getting their PP was a difficult one before any of this. Hence why I know my way around that county.
But I didn't know this. Well.... I learned something else tonight.
Isn't it ironic when someone wants to do the right thing, there are usually barricades? Prime example.

There are exceptions to not being able to handle a pistol without a permit and at a certified range with a certified instructor is one of them. Also a local trainer is using simulated training guns and it’s approved. There are ways to do it. It’s not all that difficult if anyone wants to accomplish it.

I took my class at PS & ED in LaFayette. $340.00. Give him (Matt Mallory) a call and see if he is good to go for Oneida County. He does travel to instruct as well.
