I'd tell what I would do, unless this guy was direct, imminent threat to me, or my family, Im running the other way.The 2nd Amendment states that we have the right TO bear arms, not that we MUST bear arms. Additionally, there may have been armed persons in the vicinity that didn’t feel they would have been able to assist without injuring others.
None of us were there, and it’s easy to say what we would do in a situation without having actually been present. An armed populace, while (I think) is a good thing, is not a virtual guarantee that every bad actor will immediately be taken down by armed citizenry.
He made no effort to disguise himself and drove his own car. He knew this was going to be a one way trip. It will be interesting to see if he left any "writings" and if they will be released or hidden for "public safety"
well that’s the problem though isn’t it?I'd tell what I would do, unless this guy was direct, imminent threat to me, or my family, Im running the other way.
But my point is basically, even though we have a right to carry, very few do. Its like the exact opposite of what the left/liberals think was going to happen
if Texas is a constitutional carry state, why is no one carrying a firearm when in public???
This *was* stopped by a good guy with a gun.well that’s the problem though isn’t it?
we can’t make the “good guy with a gun argument” because even with constitutional carry states we aren’t seeing people step up to take down shooters enough. sure, it may happen once or twice, and they are heroes for doing so, but it doesn’t happen enough because not everyone wants to carry.
on the flip side, the people who DO want to buy once the laws get looser sadly end up being the mentally ill or those with a grudge or criminal elements. I don’t know how we solve for it
You and Rushmore and other weak fools on the “right” (if you even claim to be) are why our country is where it’s at today.yeah, maybe two hard working, tax paying, american loving persons. quick reactions w/o thinking what do they fix seriously?
It's Dallas. Deep blue city so the TX law allows private property owners to ban possession of firearms on their property. I'm sure that is part of the issue.if Texas is a constitutional carry state, why is no one carrying a firearm when in public???
ir could have happened anywhere even on the highway. that heartless thug was on a roleIt's Dallas. Deep blue city so the TX law allows private property owners to ban possession of firearms on their property. I'm sure that is part of the issue.
It wasn’t stopped by a civilian, which was the original point I was replying to. It was an off duty cop who would have been armed anyways, before constitutional carry was passed. This *was* stopped by a good guy with a gun.
99% of these don't stop until a good guy with a gun intervenes.
The problem is usually that the good guy doesn't get there *soon enough* (see Uvdale).
When the good guy *does* get there fast enough, they frequently don't progress far enough to even *be* a mass shooting. (See mall of America).
An off duty cop qualifies as a good guy with a gun.

I agree with you though, the “good guy with a gun” rarely if ever gets there fast enough, therefore it isn’t a solid argument.
Very much agreed. The first time I ever REALLY thought about a scenario where I would have to seriously think about NOT drawing and returning fire was the Colorado movie theater shooting in 2012. Its dark, innocents everywhere, tear gas clouds rising... nightmare scenario for a good guy with a gun. Id have a very hard time coping with the killing of an innocent bystander in my crossfire. The 2nd Amendment states that we have the right TO bear arms, not that we MUST bear arms. That was my turning point too. Also the possibility of anyone else mistaking me for the primary target and taking me out.Very much agreed. Guess that only is related to Rome. Speak the language or get the fuck out of here.Perp lived at home with his parents. Parents had to ask for translator.
Evidence? They don't need no stinkin' evidence.
Well there you have it. Law abiding citizens living in Dallas that might have been armed, follow the law. I wonder if anyone will seek out to interview any of them that were at the mall? Nah.The mall also had a no weapons policy.

People should sue the mall. That policy makes them sitting ducks.Well there you have it. Law abiding citizens living in Dallas that might have been armed, follow the law. I wonder if anyone will seek out to interview any of them that were at the mall? Nah.
