10 is 10 in NY. Some also find the recoil of a .45 less snappy than the .40. Some of the 165 .45 are penetrating 16 inches or so. not the powerball of course.

In a subcompact like an Xds, 8 is 8 and 6 is 6. I'd choose 8 of 9 rather then 6 of 45.

I'm confused, that's what I was saying. I will always take the largest amount of the smallest ammo that gets the job done reliably.

I carry an XDS45 on a regular basis, if I ever get into a gun battle with a bad guy, my 45ACP will in fact kill him dead. That is all that matters to me.

I disagree. None of those rounds would have penetrated if those helmets were wrapped in wet denim.

I will say, some of the training I have received from the Le side of the house has been interesting. Very different from Army training. You train one way for so long, then all of a sudden, all these changes. Not bad training per say, just very different.

Yea. When I did a year and change in the National Guard, we had SWAT guys who were fellow soldiers. They taught us room clearing techniques that were not SOP from the the Army and Marines. Certain things made more sense from the LE way of doings things. What was cool was that the Platoon Leader sat there and learned too and had no issues with us training the cop way vs the Army way.

That ammo behaves no different than a FMJ on real tissue from what I've heard. There was a guy on YouTube who shot a pig with it and the cavity was the same diameter as another shot he did with a FMJ.
It makes sense. You can't rip off a piece of flesh with your fingers, but you can do so on gel hence the stretch cavity.

There was also a guy who shot a hog in the shoulder with the penetrator that went through multiple blocks. It went 9 inches in the hog. Gel is not a realistic test medium. The bullet in the video behaves more like a hardcast than a fmj.

Yea that's my point. Gel is just to be able to get repeatable results. It's calibrated correctly if a BB penetrates 3 to 4 inches. That same BB will not penetrate skin on a body.
That's why guys who measure stretch cavities in gel don't know what they are talking about. All gel is for is to see if a bullet penetrates at least 12 inches. If it does that, it'll penetrate through skin and bones and reach vitals on an actual body.
That's why I would never carry a .380 hollow point. Very few even make it 12 inches.

So that round is just a FMJ shaped like a Phillips Head screw. It penetrates the same as a FMJ.

No. FMJ's can deflect when hitting bone while hardcasts usually just break through.

They barely make it and the ones that do, do so by barely expanding. You are better off carrying FMJ'S.

They don't penetrate nearly as much as hardcast. They are light for caliber and recoil less. They penetrate hard barriers and continue on about the same path. I'm talking about the defenders, not the penetrators.
