I'm going to modify a line we use in the PA oilfields, when confronted with the good ol' southern boys that came up here from Texas or Louisiana to work them in the early days of the Marcellus Shale boom... They're hopping mad, and the ire of a few NY gun owners about UNSAFE is absolutely insignificant comparatively. Nowhere in the history of NY has there been even a flicker of general public reaction to gun control measures, that can compare to the state of VA now. Remember, they're reacting to something that has not even passed into law. The general population is also infuriated that a Yankee billionaire and his meddling are a large contributor to the current shitstorm.

If the police won’t enforce the law and 90+% of the counties say they won’t enforce it do you think the 10% of other officers can or will enforce it? That’s where the money is at.
Think about antifa the police can’t control them. Cops are a very low percentage of the population. Of the people refuse to comply the police statistically can’t force them to do it.
take my city there are 27 cops for 17,000 people. If 5,000 of those people said fuck you im not complying how would my city handle that? They step back and let whatever was happening happen.

My cop thing is getting so old that if I walk in your jurisdiction perhaps in the mall open carrying a Glock with 33 round magazines on my belt, I wouldn’t get arrested. You cannot tell me that I wouldn’t get arrested if you are truly honest.

You just don’t like what I’m saying because you are a cop. But the truth is the truth regardless. When people learn to separate themselves from their professions or whatever groups they belong to, they can take the criticism without it becoming personal.

The fact of the matter is that cops enforce unconstitutional gun laws everyday. To say that they do not now is is disingenuous.

Their livelihoods depend on it. They are not patriots protecting thier freedoms , They are people putting food on the table .

That's basically the same predicament LEO is in currently as well. Their livelihoods are on the line.

At first glance that seems like an easy decision from the white knight, armchair critic. They made an oath, right? Easy, peasy?

If you went into work tomorrow, and your boss asked you to do something legally questionable, or just something legal that you felt was intrinsically wrong, would you do it? Would you risk losing your job and not being able to feed your family? Would you risk losing a pension you spent a career planning on having? Would you risk a lifetime of work for one moment?

You ask a lot of a man when you ask him and his family to endure a hardship for the sake of others. They have a lot on the line personally and professionally, and it's in our nature to be self interested and invested in our family unit. That's survival.

It's a tougher decision than any of us will probably ever have to me. I'm not even sure I'd make the right decision, if I were in their shoes.

I suspect Il Duce thought there would be some sort of reaction, hence the whole memo of necessity midnight nonsense. However, I think we idealistically underestimate the interest of the general NY population. My theory is that New Yorkers are overworked, overstressed and backed into such a corner due to the regulatory and tax burdens of living here that they can't effectively mount a resistance, or even a good protest. After all, it's a race to the bottom with Cali and NY proudly leading the way.

At my job on a commuter train, they require the conductor to make announcements every few stops that say that backpacks and small packages are subject to random search by the police. Since I’m not a conductor but rather drive the train, I never had to say it.

When I picked a run a while back on a train that only had 3 cars with no conductor, I had to make that announcement to the passengers. It burned me to say it because I was now complicit to an unconstitutional act but if I didn’t, I could get written up by a supervisor. No way in hell am I going to risk 18 years at a job and a pension that’ll almost be a yearly 6 figures for the rest of my life for refusing to say some words that go against what I believe in.

My understanding is that the bill will be past into law before the 20th. if not, then obviously nothing is going to happen. IF so , it is an outright open rebellion against the governor and state daring them to their face to confisicate it .It demonstrates that the people hold the real power. Hopefully , that will be enough . it also depends upon how egotistical Northrup is , Will he see the light or press on? If the state police choose to enforce confiscation , they will do so the first few times , but eventually they will run into the Sherriff of Nottingham and his jolly men, The sheriff openly stated they will not allow it to happen in their county's and they are going to bring friends.

I have had multiple jobs through the years and its what your talent is dictates your path as whether you succeed in life not being submissive to something against your beliefs. Maybe the true path to freedom is economics. If you can tip the scale enough in your favor -- if enough conservatives band together silently and build enough wealth, or build a strong enough economy of conservatives / libertarians -- then maybe they won't need the liberal money anymore. Then, you could say what you want. You wouldn't have to economically obedient.

Until we have the practical -- not just the theoretical -- means to have free speech, then we're no better than tactful slaves.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic. These are the complexities we're dealing with though, so it's not as simple as "just say no" when it comes to complying or not.

I have pride in my values. Maybe that's why I don't live in prosperity and have no real future financial security. In my trade/s many hire immigrants, illegal I wouldn't doubt, to do the bulk (if not all) for them. It is impossible to find any real help otherwise due to the broken system in NY. The government isn’t going to do anything at the rally. It’s stupid to do so. What they have isn’t illegal yet. And even if it passed today, they still won’t do anything at the rally because it’s stupid to do so. Why would the government want a situation to get out of hand? They will ignore it. That isn’t a win for the people.

Then afterwards, arrest one by one just like here in NY just like in the examples I’ve given you that you refuse to acknowledge. At a car stop. When someone calls about an altercation. When gun shops continue to sell banned items. Etc.

The rally is a necessary step, but it will not be the beginning of real violence.

You cannot legitimately resort to the cartridge box until you have exhausted the soap and ballot boxes. The rally is a necessary step.

OTOH, Getting gun shops to stop carrying some stuff and arresting a couple people (out of hundreds of thousands) at traffic stops does not accomplish the leftist goals either.

We are essentially at a stalemate here in NY. There are hundreds of thousands of banned guns out there, but the government can do nothing about them.

I challenge RULES at work. Have many times, received great results. I wonder if your wife cheated on you multiple times but gave you great sex if you would stay with her?
