Clearing the air space over Richmond as NATIONAL Defense Airspace is what you do when you might be looking at an urban war zone and you need that airspace for military craft.

I wonder if President Trump is sending a message to Coonman letting him know that while VA may have authority on the ground as the state government, as the Commander in Chief he has eyes in the skies, air supremacy, and ultimate authority to protect the Constitutional Rights of all citizens of the United States of America.
Stranger things have happened in history, and its the only good interpretation of this FAA response I have come up with so far.
It might be that there are State-Fed national defense contingencies that give Blackface the power to request this quietly behind the scenes, and the FAA is obliged to honor the request once certain criteria are met. Or someone in the FAA granted such a request without kicking it upstairs. I'm clearly speculating.
This does not seem like a good turn of events unless President Trump has ordered this to tweak Coonman's nuts.
There go my plans to fly my refurbished Huey down to Richmond to land and plant a Gadsen flag on the top of the Capitol Building and provide air cover for my brothers in Virginia.

I'm gonna err on the side of caution and go ahead and say that Trump isn't involved at all so far. That this is all the Virginia gov and this is being set up to be a trap. There is too much money and motive from Bloomberg and the like to not be. We can only hope that if this is indeed a setup, it gets exposed real quick and gun owners are vindicated and absolved of any wrong doing.

Whether our President is involved in this order is beyond me, but only FedGov has the legal, law enforcement, and military authority to get the FAA to restrict airspace like this.
At best Northam could only ask pretty please. Even if there are State-Fed national defense agreements on getting airspace over any given state restricted, someone in FedGov signed off on this.
There is protocol for anything like this, and for good reasons. Anyone screwing around with something like this that touches on National Defense and deals with interagency policy between big guns like the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and probably dozens of alphabet soup Fed agencies is getting fired or arrested unless they cleared this without checking with a very high ranking official or military officer, or both.

There is a Recall Petition in effect that requires 10% of residents to sign to start the process. They recently edited the law to require 25% .
** I was wrong, 10% of votes cast in the last election were needed, not 10% of the state population.
It was said that they were at 75%. Were the petitions available at the Rally I would think enough people would risk signing.*****
There seems to be the impression that the VCDL is comprised by a bunch of gun club fudds. They claim to have many lawyers and field grade (ex)military officers on their side.
I truly hope that the VCDL is successful as they have accomplished more than we were able to in NY.
I would think that if the guy next to you was starting crap, he would immediately be shut down by the crowd.

The left is incapable of running things without collapsing the economy. When people start worrying about where their kids dinner will come from they will get a lot more sporty with the people in charge.
In Washington state protestors showed up armed and proposed legislation was shelved. This was soon after NY protests were hijacked by politicians and failed to accomplish anything. I remember the idiots who worried about how we will look.

Carrying signs and yelling won't cut it, the politicians aren't going to change their minds unless they see genuine anger on a massive scale.

Maybe if you'd stand out in the cold like the rest of us with a pro second amendment sign, you'd understand what being a true patriot of your country means.
Nothing is going to get done unless we let our county representatives know that it's unconstitutional laws that the governor is trying to pass. It's not like they know already what is going on. That and send lots of emails to our senators. They will read them and it will make a big difference.
We've had enough, and you can either sit there telling us there's no hope and light at the end of the tunnel, or you can start tracing out an m-16 on some plywood and heading to home depot for black spray paint so you can rise up against the tyranny and make a difference.
