Trap and Shoot them or just shoot them if you have to remove them. 22 shorts in a bolt gun are plenty quiet for crowded areas.
Drowning critters intentionally is shitty.

I kept it simple with the .22. It’s the least disturbing to use around the house."only good gopher poontang is dead gopher poontang" Carl Spackler 1980
What'd you whack it with?
catching up .. yeah catching and releasing into the wild is no no per DEC .. but i see nothing about releasing them in Albany LOL ..
and wth .. no one cooked one yet and posted a report grrr LOL .. the fkers here now know i want to cook them and are a no show .. got rabbits running around the place thou ..
one more thought on chucks .. what's wrong with there pelts ?? seems like it would be good to tan to make hats or gloves .. there are a tuff animal
I also feel the itch for a AR woodchuck build.
Fun follow-up: I think we have coyotes. I tossed the chuck in the field behind the house last night. I just checked, and the remains are gone. In its place is a big pile of k-9 like poop. Now I’m posted I didn’t have a trail cam set up on it.
I’m over closer to Livonia. My sister used to live down the road and they had them behind their house. With the massive amount of rabbits we have around right now, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit that the yotes followed them.I’ve laid eyes on two coyotes on the west side of the village, wandering north along the railroad tracks. Not sure where you are, but if there are two running through the village, there are undoubtedly more roaming the town.
I was leaning towards 223 just for ammo availability. Dad runs a 22-250 in an old Remington 700. That gun is such a tack driver it's almost not fair. I don't know much about the 224 Valkyr, that might be a contender also. I still might take the dive into air rifles sometime soon though. If you have an itch for AR woodchuck gun build a 20" .204. You wont regret it. Accurate, super fast, flat shooting and barely any recoil. Blows a 223 away for a woodchuck gun.

i love my .22-250 for chucks. The thing flies so flat and fast, you almost don't even have to take distance into account (within reason)I was leaning towards 223 just for ammo availability. That would have a very impressive shot to have made with the diminutive Shield, yet in the hands of an able shooter one I have no doubt is possible. You can't sleep on these little pistols.Got a couple being seen in our yard but never have a chance to get a rifle out the window.
Was on my tractor yesterday and seen the bigger of the two. Didn't seemed to bothered with the tractor so I took a 40yd shot with my new Shield. Aimed 2" high and missed by 2" lmao. I figured with that short little sight radius I might shoot low. Nope. Think I'm gonna like the Shield.
Now that more confident of it's POI I'll drop that lil SOB next time I see him. That would have a very impressive shot to have made with the diminutive Shield, yet in the hands of an able shooter one I have no doubt is possible. You can't sleep on these little pistols.
