I kept it simple with the .22. It’s the least disturbing to use around the house.

Was on my tractor yesterday and seen the bigger of the two. Didn't seemed to bothered with the tractor so I took a 40yd shot with my new Shield. Aimed 2" high and missed by 2" lmao. I figured with that short little sight radius I might shoot low. Nope. Think I'm gonna like the Shield.

As far as cooking them..... well been there done that. They don't have much meat on their bones and we marinated the shit out of it so all you could taste was the marinade. It did feel like you were gnawing on a rat carcass for scraps of meat.

My house has probably a dozen of them now. None of them nesting around any structures or on my lawn. Its nothing to see 3 or 4 on the lawn every night. The wife won't let me shoot them because she's trying to teach the kids you only shoot animals to eat. So now I obviously need one of the nice air rifles so I can snipe them unheard. I also feel the itch for a AR woodchuck build.

If you have an itch for AR woodchuck gun build a 20" .204. You wont regret it. Accurate, super fast, flat shooting and barely any recoil. Blows a 223 away for a woodchuck gun.

I’ve laid eyes on two coyotes on the west side of the village, wandering north along the railroad tracks. Not sure where you are, but if there are two running through the village, there are undoubtedly more roaming the town.

I’m over closer to Livonia. My sister used to live down the road and they had them behind their house. With the massive amount of rabbits we have around right now, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit that the yotes followed them.

I was leaning towards 223 just for ammo availability. Dad runs a 22-250 in an old Remington 700. That gun is such a tack driver it's almost not fair. I don't know much about the 224 Valkyr, that might be a contender also. I still might take the dive into air rifles sometime soon though.

I think to much about hunting at night,, its the reason I suggested the .204.
Its a flat shooter, kill zone is between 50 and 250 without any reticle movement.

Using my 223 AR, tactical turrets on my scope, a rangefinder and a app on my phone called Strelok Pro. I can easily shoot chucks out to 397 yds. Thats almost the furthest I can shoot in woodchuck paradise and the furthest Ive killed one. Its only about 450yds between hedgerows out there.

If you build one and have to buy ammunition for it. Find ammo that is accurate in your gun, measure the velocity and use the same exact ammo all the time. Use tactical turrets that are easily adjustable, use a rangefinder, use Strelok Pro. It will make your shooting more enjoyable.

i love my .22-250 for chucks. The thing flies so flat and fast, you almost don't even have to take distance into account (within reason)

Wish I kept my old red pad Ruger 77 Varmint in 220 Swift with a 20x on it. The old ones would flat out shoot, but LOUD. New powders closed up the gap in the 22-250 these days. My Sako in 222 does very well and I prefer the old school calibers and what they do with modern propellants and bullets and ain't nothing cooler than a Maple stocked Mannlicher.

That would have a very impressive shot to have made with the diminutive Shield, yet in the hands of an able shooter one I have no doubt is possible. You can't sleep on these little pistols.

Now that more confident of it's POI I'll drop that lil SOB next time I see him.
I've been carrying the Shield more now just to get accustomed to it. I would normally have been carrying my P99 and would have posted a pic of a bloody mess. I've shot it so much I'm very confident in where it shoots and ranges I can make good hits.
I haven't put the Shield through the paces yet. Can't afford the ammo lmao

Years ago we had bunnies and chucks galore. Then came the fishers, bobcats, bears too actually. And now this year the critter populations seem to be back up. Maybe just the cycle of things. Coyotes are part of the landscape.

Went chuck hunting this morning in a place I call woodchuck paradise.

Its the second time Ive been out there this year. 1st time the land owner and I saw 4. No shots were taken.

Ive gone out there and killed 20 of them in an hour previous years.

This time out was my first kill, which brought a smile to my face. It was on the last leg of the walk around,, when I saw it. It was 244yds,,,shot with the 223.

Set the gun down, walked 10yds over to it and another one popped its head up but I had no gun lol

This is what it looks like out there. There are pipes running on top of the ground with sprinklers attached. There is a vegetable factory that uses these fields to spray their waste water that is used to clean the veggies

i still want to eat one .. even if low meat on bones .. seams like a squirrel .. not much meat on them either , but damn yummmy ..

i still want to do a chuck in the crockpot like you would do with a beef roast .. just basic spices and vegies and a long slow cook ..

when i was growing up and friends trapping coon for pelts and just left the meat on the ground .. then i had the chance to eat it .. nothing fancy cooking at the hunting camp when one of the hunter there shot a coon and brought it back to camp .. omg it was like roast beef slow cooked ..

and that makes a dilemma .. i love them trash panda's and want one as a pet .. but they taste good too lol ..

Shit .. now i gotta call my friend that just raised a cow to be food and just got it back .. where is Cherries Tongue ??
