Russian ammo imports are a significant portion of the total market. It's absence is going to drastically increase demand for other ammunition sources at a time when demand is already way beyond production capacity.

Eh? Debating isn't disrespectful, kinda the whole point of the forums. In any case I think you will see I'm right. Supply has just started to rebound but I bet we will see that trend reverse now and prices will remain high for even longer than forecasted now. It's basic economics, demand is high, supply is low and now it's even lower.

Russian primers were top notch. Harder cup, resistant to piercing, allowed hotter loads. Unfortunately they disappeared a dozen sanctions ago. They were very popular with long range shooters.

Domestic manufacturers are "allegedly" running full out 24/7 at max production rates. They can't produce more than they are now.

I don't know what % of the market Russian ammo makes up, I dunno 10% 15%? Regardless we now have 15% less ammo available which will continue the cycle of less availability, continued panic buying and high prices.

This could just be done for the political optics and may be a small nothing burger on the ammo supply. Others have pointed out that these sanctions only delay NEW and PENDING applications for ammo imports and existing approved permits for ammo imports are not part of the sanctions.

Doesn't really affect me, as I bought what is probably a lifetime supply of Russian caliber ammo years ago, and then some.

It's like money in the bank at this point.

As much as i do not buy steel cased Russian stuff, at least not anymore, i feel this will affect an already low supplied ammo market. I have some boxes of Tul ammo and Wolf left. Hey, you think if i keep the boxes pristine, they will be collectors items and worth a small fortune in a few years, lol. Like star wars figures, and G1 Transformers, lol.

Or you can go to accurateshooters.com and do the search on Russian primers. They also gave more consistent ignition and lower pressures.. I never used them, but remember how popular they were.
