I have no doubts about that sir. I can equally say that the Colt I now hold in my posession, is of excellent quality, having owned and built many AR's. It definity meets @SmallGameAddict's basic requirements.
I do conceed however, that it is over priced considering the options available on the market now.

I do have to tender the fact that Danile Defense gave me a free rilfe for basically no reason. I'll get into tomorrow, I've told the story serval times before so stop me me if viewers of this thread have heard it already. For now though I really need to put the tablet down and get to bed. I have to get up @ 0530.

A light and...

I'd really like a suppressor.

The sighting equipment I plan to use is a Leupold VX-2 1-4×20. I feel it's an appropriate scope, lightweight, compact, and also offers a 5mm exit pupil @ 4x, plenty bright enough to use in moonlight. I also have various Warne rings.

If this is a defensive gun first, if you aren't shooting for precision, aren't shooting at distances beyond 200 yards regularly a red dot is a better choice. Nothing gets on target faster than a red dot and with a 2 MOA dot can be reasonably precise as well.
Red dots are about half tge cost for an equivalent cost scope as well.

I already have the scope, and rings.

Perhaps I could consider the red dot option later, a light and suppressor would be a higher priority, since I already have SOMETHING for sighting equipment, that is in character for the rifle and intended use.

You might find that traditional 2 piece rings won't mount the scope far enough forward on an AR to give you enough eye relief for that scope. Most low powered variable scopes have an eye relief of 3-4" which is why you see cantilevered single piece scope mounts used on most AR rifles.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the VX2 in general but if you really intend to put your rifle into a self defense role you really should have something with an illuminated reticle and a very wide field of view. My recommendation for a red dot is fairly inexpensive and is widely held to be one of the top optics of its type regardless of its price or place of origin:

The Kahles K16i 1-6 has a FOV of 127'@ 100 yards on 1x. This is the best FOV of any LPV on the market, one of the reasons I got it. However this is still considerably tighter than any red dot.
Also a defensive shooting will be a holy shit bumblefumble fuck type situation and you will want a brightly illuminated reticle to reach out and grab your eyeball and put it on the target with as little thought as possible. Red dots, holographic sights like the EoTech are collectively labeled as reflex sights for a reason.
I took both of the ARs I showed here to a class with @OnSight Firearms Training and found thar while a LPV can function acceptably at very close range a red dot is just better. A Low Powered Variable scope doesn't offer much advantage until you get to about 100 yards. I fact I have posted some pretty solid scores in @dsdmmat's matches under the red dot/iron sight 100 yard category using red dots.

I do understand your point.

I have a Leupold VX-R 4-12×50 (has adjustable brightness red dot in center of crosshairs) currently on my .308, and I love it. That red dot never gets lost in the shadows, as crosshairs sometimes can.

It's not a low light issue is what I'm trying to say, day or night your eye will align on target faster with a bright dot burning a hole in your retina.
Don't take this as me trying to offend you which I am certainly not, but I think the VX2 is a fine hunting scope, a fine range day scope but I don't think it's particularly suitable for a defensive carbine. If it is all a person can have then I am sure it can serve but if you can afford too there are better options.

I don't even know if these things are still available, the website is seemingly current.

Apparently it's a version of a rilfe originally built by Red Jacket Firearms and after the disaster that happened with that company happened this MHT Defense outfit took the concept up.

This thing is perhaps a bit dated but it came to be in the era of 9lb quad railed carbines festooned with every accessory possible.
That thing is just begging for a TA33 ACOG if you ask me. Prices seem to be just shy of $2,000 so it's kinda steep for something of this type.
Looks cool as hell to me though.

This would seem to be an excellent option for a full featured rifle yet at a more moderate price than some of the rifles we have previously discussed. In fact this would probably have been my choice when I moved to PA, had it been available at the time. It's an "all the goodies at a responsible price" rifle.
Faxon barrels are medium grade, button rifled and nitrided. It's not going to reach quite tge service life of a cold hammer forged barrel but they will last long enough and are cheaper to replace anyway. From what I hear Faxon and Ballistic Advantage are on par with each other and I have no complaints at all with my BA barrel. It shoots quite accurately for a duty style rifle.
