I almost bought the stock/action when it was on sale and then a barrel/bolt kit later but I couldn’t drop the cash on it. I may give the savage a try if I can get a deal.
These were at runnings in clay Saturday They also had a ruger American in 300 blackout, not real sure what it was exactly but it was short with and magazine.
Yeah I have no real interest in a atn. Read too many bad reviews. I would one if it was stupid cheap.
I did research some guides last year. I forget what they get. I’ll look for someone between us.
Yes we did. Thinking about snow goose hunting, maybe find a guide. You interested? Lol.
I scan my neighbors field with my night master. I want a bare bone thermal that is affordable. Clip on or scope
I was debating on the 455 and getting ir pills for my night master lights. It is just hard for me to get out in the winter month so it’s hard to justify the purchase.
I might pick up a night vision by pulsar. Can’t justify $6k+. I almost bought a flir pts233 a few years ago....flir pulled out of the civilian scope market.
Could you have done things differently? Sure, there is always room for improvement but it sounds like you put in your best to try and find your deer. It’s not always like a hunting show where the deer fall on the spot or drop in eye sight. As long as you learn what you need to improve on and...
That doesn’t look like a lot of blood too me in the pics. You would think there would be more consistent blood after the cavity filled up. Tracking in thick brush sucks if there isn’t enough blood. Positive in tracking in thick brush is the blood will be on the brush and not easily lost.
How do you feel about the shot taken? Good/bad/marginal? If bad or marginal, give it some time. A wounded deer can go a long way if you kick it up. Do you have any dog trackers in your area to call?

The first time I got behind a higher end optic, I saw a big difference. If I could afford it, all my optics would be high end. But in the real world, we have to compromise. I would check out all the box stores and look though their selection. The problem I have and I’m sure other people have, is...
I have had good luck with bushnell banners, still have one on my 30-30. Nikon are nice too (I have a buck master)but I’m not sure what Nikon optics are still available. They are no longer making firearm optics, left overs were going pretty cheap. Never owned a cheap vortex, great warranty tho. I...
Problem with ffp scopes at close range is it can be hard to see your reticle with your magnification on low. Now if your optic has illuminated reticle, you can use it as a red dot.
I shot a buck opening day with a 308win 165gr Sierra game kings at 40ish yards and I had a silver dollar exit hole. My buddy shot his buck (35-40 yards)and doe (70-80 yards)with his 300 win mag, 180 core lokt and the exit was no where the size of mine. Wish I remembered to take a pic of my exit...
