Any suggestions for a lockable rifle cabinet/safe for the 2 SCR's with scopes ? I'd prefer a combinations lock(or even biometric to avoid key lock). Not really looking for a heavy duty safe; just something to keep kids out of that we could keep in the bedroom or walk-in closet. Thanks for any...
Here is my 2nd SCR with a Strikefire II Red Dot Scope and VMX-3T 3 X magnifier. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to the range this week or not; but when I do I'll let you know how I make out.
The bolt catch for this one should be arriving today ;as you can see it doesn't have...
Funny you should say that.Since I was worried about the getting at the charger handle because of the scope(before I knew it wasn't going to be a big issue because of the bolt catch), I ordered a red dot scope for my second SCR .I'll probably mount it over the weekend.
Tom
Thank you. I found that since I had added the accessory bolt catch to this rifle, its not as big a problem as I thought it was going to be. The bolt catch holds the chamber open after the last round so I don't have to constantly reach the charging handle as I thought I would have to.

Answered my own question, new question and Update:
Well I made it out to my local indoor range yesterday( Welcome to Wolcott Guns Inc. ). Its a 25 and 50 yd. indoor range. I only had a little time so didn't spend a whole lot of time there.(before going there I watched a few videos on range...
Thank you again to everyone who posted a welcome. Everyone on this Forum has been super friendly and extremely helpful to me with my limited knowledge of firearms. I'm hopefully learning quickly from all of you.
I have been posting quite a bit in the Long Guns section because there was already...
The second SCR came with Nikon P-223 3-9x40 BDC 600 scope with the nikon P series mounts Nikon P Series Scope Mount
This makes the charging handle hard to get at. I believe these are cantilever mounts and should solve this problem?(like I know what I'm talking about????). Is it possible that...
Wouldn't you know it; I picked up my 2nd SCR last night since the USPS had lost the first one and I just got a notice from the USPS that the original SCR has just been delivered to my FFL.
I now know what my wife is getting for Xmas. I wasn't intending on owning 2 firearms this early in this...
Thank you.
What I've done is ordered another SCR on auction and had it shipped overnight. It just arrived at my FFL and I'm going to pick it up in about 2 hrs. I contacted the the original seller and we're working on the refund. The USPS really messed this one up big time;they still haven't...
Well I've got my hearing protection ,eye protection, plenty of ammo, a range case to carry all my stuff,a new hard case for the SCR and a scope. I've been studying up on indoor range etiquette on YouTube. I am planning to go visit my local range once to introduce myself and review the range...
I bought one of these for my SCR( which should arrive this coming Monday evening). Does anyone know what mounting rings/hardware I need for it? I'm anxious to mount the scope as soon as possible and I'm not sure I'll know how to figure this out. It's the Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 BDC Rifle Scope.(...
Would this qualify as Black box American Eagle and am I ok shooting 556 with my SCR?:
Federal American Eagle 5.56mm Ammo 55 Gr FMJ 120 Rds in Mini Can
Thank you.
Best regards,
Tom
I've read the reviews and for the money this should be all I need to get started; thank you for the heads up; I just bought one online for instore pickup.I'll try to figure out which scope rings once I get the SCR.
Best regards,
Tom
I don't know anything about these; that looks like a great deal. Are these something that are easily mounted to the SCR? Please for give my ignorance.I'm going to have to buy one ;I have so many things to educate myself on.
Best regards,
Tom
Thank you. From what limitted reading I've done on the subject I understand that the two diffent ammunitions are indeed different and can cause problems if you use the 556 in a 223 barrel and chamber because of different pressures and slightly different dimensions.
Since the SCR can use both...
OK, Thank you. My understanding is that the 5 round magazines are ok for hunting but the 10 round magazines are only legal at a firing range ;is that right? is there any limit to the number of 10 round magazines I can own? Can I have them loaded prior to to going to the range? Do they have to be...
I've bought an SCR-001 through an out of town dealer. Now I'm going to need advice on ammo and magazines for it! So I'm afraid I'm going to be pestering you guys for quite some time. Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Tom
Thank you to all for the warm welcomes. I have posted a few posts already and have just ordered a FightLite SCR-001. Now I need to get some info on Magazines and ammo. The people I've interacted with so far have been very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you all again and a Happy...
Is not having an ejection port dust cover a big deal? I'm finding a few SCR-001's (no dust covers)in stock at a few dealers but the only SCR-011's I'm finding in stock have threaded barrels. Thank you .
Tom
There's no extra charge for the model with the dust cover so I guess that's the way I'll go and without the threaded barrel.
Please forgive this simplistic question but do these rifles come with a case or do I have to buy one separately? If I have to buy one are there standard sizes?
Thank...
Thank you all for the advice and recommendations regarding the SCR. It looks like you were already answerring many of my questions while I was responding to the first response!
It looks like I'll order the complete rifle with the Monte Carlo stock and possibly add a bolt catch(I've looked up...
Thank you for the kind welcome, response and info. I saw the great deal you got on the used rifle;we should all be so fortunate! I'm really looking forward to getting one of these rifles but first finding out whether I should just buy the complete rifle from the Gun Broker, etc or if I should be...
Gentlemen,I am a new member to the Forum and I am interested in the Ares/Fightlite SCR as my first semiauto rifle. I have introduced myself in the Introduction section and am legitimately looking for info on the Ares/Fightlite SCR before I buy one as my first rifle.I have seen that many...
Thank you all for the warm welcomes; I really appreciate them. I have a couple of questions already: can I edit my posts and is there a limit to the number of characters in a post? Thank you
