Good news! I just did my 2nd NICS check and I get to go get my gun later today. Want to hear the funniest shit about all of this PITA stuff? It's a Heritage Barkeep 22 lr with a 3" barrel. It's a fucking toy. Yup, a 22LR after all this.
This bench weighs about 60 lbs. and it's sort of a pain to screw the legs in until the threads get broken in. I'm sure they will screw in better sooner rather than later. I took this out 2 weeks ago for the first time and it was hands down better than the lighter 3/4" bench with folding legs...
Here it is right side up now. I coated the top with some non slip grip paint so I can put my Caldwell steady rest up there and not have it slip around a lot. The jury is still out on the non slip paint. Caldwell Steady rest from Walmart $69 and worth every penny I paid for it. Caldwell makes...
Here it is upside down on my workbench, upside down with legs attached. They are 1 1/2" black iron pipe with the pipe threads screwed into the floor flanges. I had a local guy in a steel shop cut the legs to 36" and thread the pipe with a pipe die. He charged me $50 for the whole shebang out the...
Here's what it looks like on the bottom of the whole thing. The front 2 10 degree angle blocks were also skewed out at a 10 angle towards the front of the bench and the target.
I started by laminating 2 pieces of 3/4" CDX plywood together with glue and screws. Then I painted the whole thing with a couple coats outdoor brownish paint. I then glued up some blocks of 2 x 6 approx. 6"x 6" and glued them up about 9" long to look like a 6" x 6" log x 9" long so I can cut...
That is exactly how my FFL does it. Any receipt that you get from a vendor online is NOT the receipt my pistol permit office honors. You have to get a receipt from your FFL with THEIR FFL # on it to register it. The other receipt from purchase doesn't mean anything in Cortland County.
That is correct. I hear of all these amendment times and I wonder what in hell people are talking about. We just take our receipt to the County Clerk and walk out with the gun on our new license. I can actually have the FFL receipt in my possession while carrying the new gun and wait 9 days to...
In Cortland County, in order to take possession of your handgun you must have your coupon and then you have 10 days to return it to the County Clerk. I always take it back ASAP.
I made something similar. After a couple of years it got a little wobbly. I'm no super benchrest shooter by any means. It worked for me until I upgraded. Pics to follow if I get the chance in a couple of days
Want to buy 1 or 2 Lee 4 hole Turret Press Quick Change Turret. I have 8 full but like to have extra on hand for deprime, bullet puller, quick trim dies, etc.
OK. I'll ask. Can I get my handgun legally in NY after my 3 day NICS check with no proceed? Inquiring minds and all. Please shed some legal light and I will take this thread to my FFL. He is reasonable and will do the right thing. He is also a long time friend.
I thought the same thing. My FFL says otherwise and I have to abide by his rules. I did the 4473 on Friday and I thought worst case scenario was pick it up Wednesday. Rat bastards, back room legislation.
Yeah, she misspoke. I talked to the owner and he explained about the new rules imposed by Emperor Cuohomo. My info is on the computer as we speak with 2 other people.
The owner also told me about a guy who was delayed for months. We gotta get rid of Cuohomo and this stupid ass gun law(s).
I bought a handgun last week and did the 4473 on Friday. The FFL lady said it was delayed because NICS was down. OK, I get it. I go in today fully expecting to pick up my handgun and they said it was still delayed. Ok, no worries.
Then I get the news that Cumhomo extended our 3 day wait for...
They are not out of business. I called Kempf Gun Shop 2 weeks ago looking for .308 dies and they told me Lee was 3 months behind on production.
That being said, I clicked on a couple items and used the "notify me" option and both items are due to be released in 4 weeks. That was last week some...
I have shot lots of PPU 7.62 x 39, 123g, RNSP and PSP and find their loads pretty sparky. I usually just shoot them up and use the brass and my components to reload my own hot deer loads with Hornady 123g SST's and H4198.
That's all I got @Robin.
OP, I'm sorry that you have to go through this because of your son's actions. I hope he gets whatever help he needs thru this time of crisis for him.
I also hope you get whatever guns you need to hang onto until your son comes to his senses.
Good Luck
I am looking to get my grandson some .308 dies. I am familiar with Lee dies such as the 3 Die Pacesetter set or the 4 Ultimate Die set. I am not opposed to other die sets as I am an old dog but I can still learn stuff.
I need the Full length die set as we are loading for a bolt gun or I would...
I use the Blade-Tech Total Eclipse
Amazon.com : Blade-Tech Total Eclipse Holster for S&W M&P 9/40/45 - IWB/OWB Concealed Carry Holster : Sports & Outdoors
I make mine a OWB high and tight for my 45 Shield. You can make the IWB too. Lots of variations for different carries. I have one for my...
I'm thinking for handguns you need a Broome County FFL anyway. We should get together when the weather breaks and do some shootin'. I can be up on your hill in 5 minutes.
Your handle didn't ring a bell until now.
I am looking to buy 1 to 2 lbs. of H4198 for a decent price if anyone wants to sell some. I don't mind paying a premium but I don't want to get raked over the coals.
I am roughly using 25g H4198 per round of 762 x 39. I would get ballpark 280 rds. from that. That would beef me up some. 560...
I was cruising Gunbroker for some H4198 powder yesterday. Those folks selling powder are fucking nuts. I saw a lot of 1 lb. containers for $100 +. A lot were more than that. My last pound was $38.
One add had a "buy now" 8# container for $799. I shit you not.
IMR 4064 was way up there too. I...
I'm no expert in the reloading field but I would say try them to see if they work for your needs. Is it just the seating die you're concerned about?
My dies don't put much pressure on seating the bullets for handgun because they brass is expanded to receive the projectile.
You could always...
He got a Browning A bolt. It looks like a 20" bbl with a gray synthetic stock. It will be fine for the young fella. He bought it with his own money, you gave him brass and I gave him a Simmons Whitetail scope with mounts. I ended up with some .308 Lee dies off ebay for $40 or so. Seller has an...
Thanks for sending that brass for my grandson. We received over 100 rds. of .308 brass in that Box you sent us. You the man.
We have everything we need now except for the dies which I luckily found on ebay for a decent price. They will be in soon.
That's awesome! Thank you very much. He said he's ordering it today. I will let you know. I am giving him a Simmons 3 x 9 for a starter scope. I mwill be making all of his reloaded ammo free of course.
No. My Grandson is buying a .308 and wants some decent brass to reload. Magtech hasn't been on my radar other than @C3D's reply. Thank you @C3D for the reply
My Step grandson is wanting to buy a .308 and we are looking at ammo that has decent reloadable brass.
50 Rounds of Bulk 7.62x51 Ammo by Magtech - 147gr FMJ M80 (bulkammo.com)
Is this stuff any good? The only Magtech ammo I had was 9mm and that stuff IIRC had the little shelf in it that...
Got the brackets from Amazon. $100 but worth the money. I'll be in my stand by 6:15. If I get a deer, fine, if not, I still got to chill in the woods.
Is it hunting? I'm not sure. Maybe you should ask the deer that didn't make it past my stand. I think the longest shot I've made was 40 yards...
