No, the president either signs the bill as a whole when it's given to him, or he vetoes it. If he doesn't like it, he can veto the bill and say, "I'd sign it if X, Y, and Z are changed." Then, it would be up to the Senate and House to re-pass a modified bill, give it to the president, and then...
Shot this large doe Sunday morning. She had a lot of fat on her. 30-40 yard shot. Took out a piece of the heart and the lungs. Didn't hit either shoulder, so no meat was ruined. Perfect shot. Getting her back to the house was a bitch. I almost flipped the 4 wheeler going up the hill.
I will...
Well, I screwed it up a little. I was grinding the bevels and got too far up. I had to change the grind from a standard to a full flat grind. Not a huge deal, but it wasn't what I was planning. I think I was using a belt that was a little too coarse. I should have slowed down a bit and used a...
I finally got a little time to work on the knife this morning before work. Drilling the holes definitely helps move the center of gravity. I think the balance will be good once I drill some more holes and the scales are added. I should have some time to finish the holes tonight and finish...
That's precisely why the founders set up the Senate the way they did. So the agricultural and low population states wouldn't get ruled over by the densely populated cities/states. The design is working as intended.
You can always pick up an 8N tag when they release the leftover DMP tags. There are still 8N tags available, 4 weeks after they released more of them. They are always available in the leftover draw. I didn't even put in for any 8N tags this year. I put in for 8R where my uncle's place is, and I...
The super sportsmen doesn't include bow hunting? I looked at the regulations you posted in your link. It is kind of similar to the Irondequoit program, which has served as a base for a bunch of town hunting programs. I don't think Irondequoit has a residency requirement though. It is probably a...
DMPs can be used during any season. Deer Management Permits (DMPs) - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation
My plan is to get into the Irondequoit bowhunting program. It's free, you just have to pass a qualification test and do some other stuff. But, the payoff can be worth it. There are some...
Good catch. Right now, it isn't too bad. If this were finished, I would be happy. The center of gravity is right near where my index finger is. However, once the scales are added, it would be too handle-heavy. The plan is to drill a bunch of holes in the tang to reduce the weight in order to...
Think of how many libs didn't vote for Hitlery because of how they imagined Bernie got screwed. Think of how many libs just stayed home because they thought she would win. They're even more against Trump now than before. I really don't think Trump will be winning a 2nd term.
Got a chance to grind and file a bit more last night. I think I'm going to go with the orange liners. They should look nice.
I still have some hand filing and sanding to do over the next few days.
I had a chance to work on it for like 15 minutes tonight. I realized I bought the wrong size arbor grinding and cut off wheels  Ahh well. I need to make a trip back to harbor freight.
I have an old disk on the grinder and made use of it. It took a little bit to get used to grinding...
I have the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x42. I bought them for a trip to CO last year. They are pretty decent for the money. If you are just hunting around here, I would think about sticking to an 8x though. 10 may be a little overkill.
I shot a doe yesterday, right where @Cleck was the day before. :)
I need at least one more for my parents freezer. I wouldn't mind taking one of those big bucks on my trail camera pictures.
G10 (a fiberglass and resin material)
G10 Liner Hunter Orange - Knife Handle Material
The green really contrasts with the wood, almost too much. The orange definitely accents the wood. I may order a few colors and see what they actually look like.
The bigger bucks from my trail camera. There are a bunch of smaller little spikes or forks running around too. I'm not sure which of these are the same, but it looks like there are at least 2 different ones.
I can't decide if I want to add liners or not. I mocked them up with some paper. What do you guys think? It's a little hard to tell the difference between the orange and yellow, but there is a difference.
That's pretty much what I'm thinking. Get one, even a cheap one. I can always build a better one down the line when I know exactly what I'm looking for.
"Palmetto State or something"
Probably should have said "somewhere" instead. I think we've conversed over PM about a kit. Everyone knows PSA...
I just arranged shipping the lower to my FFL. I haven't had the time or money to actually start a build. Since I don't have an AR, I will probably just buy a ~$500 kit from Palmetto State or something. I've had another stripped lower sitting around for a few years now.
How old are the kids? My wife was awesome about me going. It does help that we have lots of family that came over for dinners and kept her company.
Get a buddy and drive straight. Southwest CO was "only" a 32 hour drive for me. ID probably wouldn't be much more. Yeah, it sucked, but I'll do it...
I'm going to be putting out a DP trap or two for some raccoons this weekend. What is the your bait of choice for raccoons? Preferably one that won't attract cats. The neighbor has a few barn cats, so I want to avoid fish. Something sweet? Pieces of jelly donut? marshmallows? corn with honey or...
Skip OH and head out to Montana or Idaho for elk like you really want to do! (I think it was you that commented that on my elk hunting thread last year, right?)
I wasn't a fan of the SST. They got the job done, but I found lead fragments like 8" from the entry wound. A rib caused the bullet to fragment. I actually threw out a decent amount of meat because of it.
I'd probably see if you can at least take the meat off the carcass at your buddy's house. If that doesn't work, take off the meat like you would an elk or moose (with it laying on the ground). Take off the tender loins, front shoulders with bone attached, bone out the back legs, take out the...
I will be using a Remington 700 in .308 topped with a 4-12x Leupold VX-R scope shooting Federal loaded Nosler Partitions. There probably isn't much of a need for a picture of this rifle.
If anything decides to walk in within 50 yards or so, I will be using this bad boy. It is a Ruger Super...
I love my Havalon Piranta. The thing is awesome. I just pop a new blade on when one gets dull.
For anything that may need torquing the blade I use a Buck folder. I think it's a 286, but I remember paying way more than what they're currently going for. Maybe they use a different steel now than...
This is my only hold up in getting a vasectomy. I guess the other option is to have the wife get her tubes tied. That's a much more invasive surgery though where a lot more can go wrong. The women's surgery is also way more expensive. I'll probably just get it done.
I've got a Lansky sharpener and have been using it for years, so putting on a second bevel that is repeatable is easy. I don't really have the stones required to sharpen a scandi ground knife.
I haven't totally decided yet. For ease of sharpening, it will probably turn into a regular grind.
Nice catch. I love the look of a nice swedge. I think it adds to the appeal of a lot of knives. We'll see how easy it is to put in.
It's very similar to the Buck knife that I have. I'll probably...
Beautiful work @Robin. I'm keeping my eye out for a reasonably priced anvil. I figure I will get that before I make the forge. I'm still trying to decide what kind of fuel I want to use. I'm thinking propane because it's quick and easy. It also makes no smell, so my neighbors shouldn't have an...
