Possibly after the teething period.
The upgrades seem to be the right direction…just 5 years behind everyone else.
I’m skeptical of the plastic optic plates.
I’m in the market but currently I’m more inclined to buy a Ruger RXM.
-steel sights with tritium front
-fcu
-magpul finally has grips...
Numerous reasons. But generally, guns that are easy to carry are not as pleasant to shoot even if they can be shot well.
Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t practice with your carry gun and doesn’t mean you can’t shoot them well. But extended range session with a smaller, snappier carry gun is less...

I can understand wanting to go to a bigger caliber if you prefer carrying a larger gun and also have the ability to purchase the ammo to practice.
I prefer subcompact guns for CCW like the G26 or MC9 that I can still shoot fast and accurate. In those small packages I prefer 9mm, I don’t want the...
so how tall is the prime? It looks a lot taller than the G19….more like G17 height.
I have the MC9 and SFT and would like an in between but with this I’m annoyed about the mag compatibility - my 18 round full size mags will stick out and my 15 round mags would need a new baseplate (which I’ve...
Info for others on CCW timeline for Ontario County. Carry permit received in just under 4 months.
In addition to the original 4 references and the state’s absurd requirements, the sheriff at the interview wanted locations, occupations, and email references from spouse, parents, siblings...
Looks awesome! And another 50 state legal option which is always welcome.
Expensive? Really? Compared to a PSA AR sure but compared to other NY legal options not really.
It’s NY state legal, takes cheap standard mags, has an adjustable match trigger, ar bolt, an accurate barrel based on...
If you are talking about dryfiring to a single target on a wall, racking and pulling the trigger, rinse and repeat dozens of times….yeah that’s boring.
but put up an array of targets, have a planned execution, movement and work on transitions, reloads, draws, everything except for recoil…then...
From another article it sounds like Applegate's requirement from NY was to have 1 hot food option available which it complied with.
I would hope Applegate would sue NY because NY is not liking the deal they (NY) made with Applegate. It sounds NY is now trying to change the law because it...
Wouldn’t this just give Applegreen and Chick Fil-A grounds to sue them? They have a contract in place and NY is changing its laws because it didn’t like the contract it made.
of course the lawmakers don’t give a shit because if they lose in court, they don’t have to pay, we do.

Honest Outlaw for guns. He puts a good round count thru them and will also stretch the distance with them.
Humble Marksman if you are into USPSA or IDPA. Again puts a good round count thru them.

Some people we talk to seem not to comprehend how taxes work on houses and that you will be paying them for the rest of your life. I have heard so many times from my family and people in the area that the housing in the Rochester area is cheaper than where we lived in SC. And it is true - the...
Ruger PC Carbine is not a bad choice for a first rifle at all.
For mounting a light, you can use the mount on the gun but some lights interfere a little. You can get Mlok mounts that will move the light to the side of the rifle. I have the Catalyst Arms Hardpoint for the front and then I...
Pistol concealed for out and about. Long gun for home defense. Pellet gun with a suppressor for taking small game. 22lr bolt action for taking larger game still relatively quietly.
Last thing I want to do is bring attention to myself. A pellet gun with an airgun suppressor is quiet, can take...
My problem with a live-fire accuracy requirement is that by law you are not allowed to touch a handgun prior to the class. They are requiring people to demonstrate proficiency with something the first time they are using it.
Probably because those are all the counties in the 8th judicial district. I am sure they are picking a district that will be favorable to their case to start.
It reclassifies them as “firearms” under NY Penal law. Under NY law, “shotguns” and “rifles” are not “firearms”.
“Firearms” under NY law 265.00 include pistols, revolvers, SBRs, SBSs and now anything that can expel a projectile via explosive otherwise not defined. Under NY Penal law, all...
The “other” they were most likely targeting is AR others. If you build an AR without a stock, over 26” length with a vertical fore grip then it is an “other”. It is not a “rifle” because it has no stock and isn’t designed to be fired from the shoulder. It’s not a “shotgun” and it’s not a...
By adding “others” to the definition of “firearm” they are banning them. Because all “firearms” are illegal. Handguns and revolvers can be explicitly obtained thru a pistol permit but there is no provision for the rest of the items under “firearms”. “Rifles” and “shotguns” are separately defined...
I believe the difference is that they are defining it as the NY penal law definition of “firearm”. In NY penal law, rifles and shotguns are not “firearms”. “Firearms” in NY Penal law include handguns, revolvers, SBRs, SBSs all of which are illegal to possess. A pistol permit allows possession of...
So buying level 3 and 4 hard rifle plates is legal - but it will now be illegal to buy a soft level 3A panel for your child's backpack. Way to go NY, always using critical thinking to make our kids safer.
Whatever you choose, take it to the range and pattern it. In my mind, I'd first want to check what I have and see if how it performs before I go down a rabbit hole of different combinations. What works in someone else's gun may perform differently in yours.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a local gun store or FFL east of Rochester that you have used?
I have a couple items I am looking to purchase and then a couple of items I'll be looking to sell and will need to do some transfers.
Thanks!
