Steel rifle targets are never an option.
Cost is moot tbh.. RMA can cost less.
The multi hit argument is also moot. Ceramics and other real body armor IS multi hit rated (if you actually buy certified armor, which if you are buying armor for anything other than make believe, you should be buying NIJ certified)
And cool steel can take thousands of rounds, won't be much use when you are dead from spawling.. and no your spray on truck bed liner is not "protection"

I own one of these Concealable Body Armor | Concealable Body Armor Vest. Have had it for several years now. Very seldom put it on.

Steel is trash, not even worth it to waste your time anymore. Steel targets that people strapped to their chest only flourished because early on when getting armor was becoming more popular, there weren’t as many budget friendly options so someone got the great idea and said hey “We shoot at steel plates all day and they’re bulletproof…let’s just use those!”. Now that there are companies like RMS who produce budget Lvl IV plates like the 1155’s, steel targets with bedliner are obsolete.
Not all Hesco’s are bad and haven’t failed the standards, but I agree that it does make me weary of them as well. No matter what company you use, they will always have failures, it’s bound to happen, Hesco just so happened to have quite a few which is a little unsettling, though I have a friend on Las Vegas swat and they all run Hesco 3810’s. On some of the models, Hesco was pushing the limits of material mass and trying to cut weight and make them as lightweight as possible, but when you’re doing that it’s bound to happen that you’re right on the edge of failure.
Some other companies to check out Velocity Systems, Tencate, LTC, RMA, AT Armor. Tencate manufacturers the plates for Velocity Systems and AT Armor. That happens quite a bit in the armor business. These companies aren’t the most “well known” because they’re no plastering their names all over social media and making themselves flashy but they are some of the best in the business and usually are the ones with contracts. They are also a little trickier to look up and research, but it’s doable.

Or you could do what I am going to do. Just attend the training course and get a security guard license. Nothing in it says you have to be actively employed by someone as such .
And someone should point out to these idiot lawmakers that some of these active shooters were employed as security guards.

Any time a legislature votes in a Law that is later struck down as unConstitutional, each and every politician that voted to pass it is fired, loses their pension, and is subject any and all lawsuits brought by people who were "harmed" by that illegal law.

A person is guilty of the unlawful purchase of a body vest when, not being engaged or employed in an eligible profession, they knowingly purchase or take possession of a body vest, as such term is defined in subdivision two of section 270.20 of this article.
