It's Monticello. Gunfire and shootings between gang members are common occurrences here. The only thing newsworthy is that it happened in broad daylight this time, and near the school.
I tended bar for a living and have done so for over 30 years. I always carried concealed when I worked but never drank while I worked, for a variety of reasons, not just because I am armed. When Hochul's new CCIA came into effect I contacted the NYS number that answers questions regarding the...
I called the State Police to clear up a few questions after Hochul's CCIA passed. UP until last fall I tended bar for a living, and have always carried a concealed handgun on me. I never drink when I work or carry. I wanted to be sure I could still legally do so. The trooper on the phone said...
A few years ago I was working late nights and was getting pulled over by the troopers 2 or 3 times a week. Tail lights and brake lights that were out but mysteriously worked when I got home, or they were "dim". Got stopped once for not stopping at a stop sign for a full count to 5. Been pulled...
You can't teach someone who does not want to learn and lives in an environment that does not require it. I tend bar in a place where the newly hired college students, and college graduates, too, cannot make change from a $5 bill for a $3.50 beer without using a calculator. They never had to...
When most of the country can't be bothered to pull themselves away from their TVs and computers to vote, how many do you think will be willing to risk their lives fighting an invading force whose only rule of engagement is kill everyone?
I guess it depends on where you are. When I was working late nights, I was getting stopped by the troopers 2 or 3 times a week. Only 1 ticket in all those stops, for about a half inch of snow coming up on the rear plate of my pickup. I had one trooper tell me that anyone out after midnight was...
My kids belong to my community? Bullshit. I have 2 registered sex offenders in my community, the guy down the road from me is an abusive drunk and there is a crack house just 100 yards from my home. I have a retired NYC cop living 3 houses from me who is about the unfriendliest prick I have ever...
I put that list up, and it is a very short one as there are many more companies that have shown support for the LGBTQ community, to illustrate the absurdity of people getting upset over 1 Bud Lite can. Absolut, Smirnoff, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Bulleit, Coors, Sam Adams, Corona...
Guys, it is one can that was sent to Dylan Mulvaney with his picture on it. You won't find displays of Bud Lite cans with his picture on it in your local beer stores. It is all a tempest in a teapot. And for those who really feel the need to boycott any company that supports the LGBTQ community...
I tended bar for over 30 years and I have seen lots of cops get drunk and drive. I know of several who were involved in accidents and 2 that were drunk while on the job. With just one exception I have never seen or heard of cops arresting another officer for drunk driving. That one exception...
The Borsch Belt and The Sour Cream Sierras, too.
I graduated from Liberty High School in 1974. It was a nice town, then. Now, to give you how bad it is, I tended bar for a living until last summer. The 3 bars left in town (in 1980 there were 20, and all were busy) close no later than 10pm...
I know of 2 guys who had their cars broken into and their handguns stolen when they went into a store that would not allow them to carry their weapon in the store. If you think about it, it is easy to observe someone as they go through the motions, taking their weapon from it's holster...
I used to date a woman from Poland who graduated from high school when Poland was still part of the Soviet Bloc. Part of her requirements to graduate was to be able to field strip and reassemble an AK, while blindfolded. She taught me how, among some other things she was very skilled at.
I have a Guide gun in 45-70, with 200 rounds, give or take a few. It now has a Bausch and Lomb 2-8 Balvar scope mounted on it. $1200 without the scope, $1400 with the scope. The dog, Model 28 and knife are not for sale.
For what it's worth, I used to do Civil War reenacting with a guy who also got involved in WW2 reenacting. He bought 2 Sherman tanks from the Bosnian government, had them shipped back to the US and then moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania and had them mounted with .30 and .50 caliber machine...
My custom made .62 caliber flintlock. The second picture really shows off the beauty of the bird-eye maple stock. The pistol is .40 caliber, made for me by a local gunmaker.
Shots being fired has been mentioned as the reason for the cops being there. I have to ask, where in North Carolina is there an area where shots are not being fired? In the little town I live in in NYS, there are shots fired at any time of the day and night. I was walking my dogs when I got off...
So a child, unknowingly dropping a bag of candy, even after a parent pick it up, is an arrestable offense. Interesting, sad, and a remarkable indictment of our legal system and law enforcement. My 89 year of father was a victim of a violent home invasion last summer, and got his jaw broken. The...
From what I understand, the little girl dropped a bag of candy. The homeowner came out and said something about picking up the bag, the mother did so and they were going on their way. Hardly what I would call littering, nor something I would consider an arrestable offense.
With all you come into contact with? Spare me. I tended bar for years in a place frequented by cops, mostly NYSP and NYPD. The only reason most of them aren't in prison is because they are cops.
I don't know where you live, but the last time I was at Fur, Fin and Feather, a gunshop in LIvingston Many, Sullivan County , NY, he had a Rossi just like what you are looking for. I do not remember the price, though.
I used to work for a pest control company. You would be surprised and sickened at the amount of restaurants in the Hudson Valley, especially Chinese restaurants, are as bad if not worse.
Have a stovepipe or any other failure to feed. You have to drop your magazine to clear the weapon. Would you rather have a spare, or reuse the mag that is most likely somewhere n the ground? I always have a spare mag, and keep it in my left back pocket. I have ever needed it? Not yet. Have I...
I look all the time. I tend bar for a living, and it amazes me how many guys have no problem carrying a pistol and then getting trashed at the bar. That includes regular Joe's, off duty cops and thugs. It is usually pretty easy to see if someone is carrying. Just watch for odd bulges, bulges...
The troopers around here do this to just about everybody on a bike they pull over. If I have a multi-tool on my belt, they let that go. I have even seen them tow and impound bikes of guys who were not wearing DOT approved helmets.
My every day carry knife is a cheap folder I bought at the local gas station, for $9.99. I have had so many nice folders, Case Buck, Schrade and Puma, taken from my by the troopers at motorcycle checkpoints I refuse to "donate" quality knives to them anymore.
