It's called a Piebald deer
I think that's called deer camp and most of us have been there!

after a 30 minute walk up a 35 degree hill side ... pant pant pant .. pheww finally made it my favorite stand , now to get my tired ass up in it ..
remembers my grandpa and uncles and dad hunting trips up to the camp and all the stands they built when i was a preteen..
Didn't see a thing all evening .. GRRRR ...

had a good day yesterday, shot the little 8 point while still hunting with my .308, shot the doe with my .460xvr revolver while heading into evening stand.
That's a monster doe! Did you put her on the scale?

no but she sure did drag hard out of the field. hanging next to my buck she is the same length but she is wider in chest. would have to guess she was pushing 200lbs on the hoof? what do you guys guess?

Went out both days this past weekend. Weather actually turned out better than I thought. Saw nothing Saturday. Moved around Sunday afternoon and ended up being caught off guard by 3 doe in a hurry. By the time I had my pistol cocked and ready to bring up they were 10 yds in front of me staring me down. Half second later they were gone.
Heard a markedly lower volume of shots compared to last year. Seemed like there was no one out there.

My brother got a doe this morning, it,s all hung up and skinned off. Now time to head back out.

This year is a good year for my family, the boys took two bucks first day, posted Saturday. Today my brother got a doe first thing, we hung it, skined it off and then headed up towards south otselic/pitcher area to hunt the rest of the day. My brother has a doe tag for that area.
On the way up there my oldest son got a doe over in West Windsor on the Pettis farm.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Before dinner I'll do some shooting with my other grandson here in New yorkistan. I bought both grandsons them savage 22lr table rifles.
This is a really fun vacation for me, I was going to come back for two weeks, but decided to stay here three weeks.

My family has enough in the freezer now I can be selective. We've shot enough bucks I won't shoot one unless it bug now. We still should take a few does, so if can size one as a big one I will take it. My father is pretty adamant that I need to shoot a deer, but I won't unless the right one walks bye now.

We have three families that will use the meat here and i,'l take 40 pounds of frozen processed meat back with me, plus i,d like to mail back some deer jerky if possible.
Many years I come back and We end up empty handed like most others. This year we have been blessed and it,s not over until the fat lady sings.

That's about where I am Miles. I got two in the freezer and have become more selective. I watched a nice eight pointer for about half an hour the other day, tempted, but let him pass. Never thought of myself as a trophy hunter and still don't, but for some reason I have passed on some very nice bucks this year that in other years I would have been very pleased to take. Maybe just getting old and soft.

Thought I'd sneak out for a couple hours this morning. Sat for about an hour before I decided to check my red dot. This was the result. Session over.
Was twice as big when I was in the cold. Sent Ultra Dot an email. Hope they come through huge on this one.

Little one's are good eating too, and easy to drag
Here is a pic of the doe one of my boys shot on Wednesday, he skinned it off as soon as he got it home. It,s a he'l of a lot easier when they are still some what warm. We let them hang a couple of days before we cut them up.
My brother has a big meat grinder, a decent vacuu sealer. He bought a meat slicer, but we haven,t tried it out yet. We are going to semi-freeze some boneless meat and try to slice it about half an inch thick got steak and a little less then quartet inch thick for making jerky.
He also bought a shooter for making jerky. We,'l try it both ways.
After we go out for dinner we are going to rally world to look at food dehydrrator.
I,'l have to take another picture tomorrow, the one I took earlier didn't come out on my phone.

Shot a Doe today. 2 Doe came out of the woods running full blast, shot one at about 200yds with the 6.8. Got out of the tree stand, set the gun down and walked out to the Doe. Got 3/4's of the way there and a 4 point buck came running out of the woods,,,,no gun,,couldnt shoot. Its my first deer,,,never been into deer hunting,,it bores me.

That's the way deer hunting works, lots of slack time waiting and watching, less then a minute and It's all done. Then the unexpected happens and you lose on the bonus, like what happened to you.
Sitting out there this morning I should of taken my marlin 22 magnum and shot squirrels, could of had my limit and then some. But the second you shoot a squirrel the biggest buck you have ever seen will snort and take off in a flash.
Been there/done that.
Here is a picture of the doe my son shot the other day
Took a couple of days off work so I went out this morning. Walked out there in the dark with my red predator light on my head. Got about 50yds from the stand and seen 2 sets of eyes peeking out of the hedgerow about 30yds from the stand. Got in the stand and sat and drank my coffee. Sunset came up so I decided to make some deer calls, nothing. Half hour goes by and I made some more, nothing. Decided to smoke a cigarette with my coffee. Wind was blowing on my back right at the spot I seen the eyes in the dark. Still seen nothing moving. Well then the Canning factory decided to turn on their sprinkler system. Instantly 2 doe ran out of the spot where I seen eyes earlier and ran directly at me. I bent down to pick up my gun, they saw me and turned around and ran back to their spot but ran through the hedgerow to the other side and then started running directly at me again. Got within 10yds of me and I tried like hell to look through my 2-7 scope but they were to close to get a clear picture of them while they were running,,,pulled the trigger anyways and missed.
This same tree stand is where I saw a monster buck, at the least a 10 point sitting and eating 2 weeks before the season started. Thats the one I been praying for.

Walking down the road to where I like to sit at 6.45 three dees ran into the woods down on the side of the road we hunt on.
