2017 Regular Season deer & coyote kill reports & pictures

congrats to all that have had success!
been having a very good year this year, shot the one in the first pic with my longbranch #1mk4 Enfield on thanksgiving morning. watched a little one walk across the old field and bed down about 100 yards away from me and about 10 minutes later this doe came through and disappeared in a little finger of woods. waited for about an hour and got cold so I snuck out of my treestand and stalked towards were i last saw her. jumped her out of her bed and she ran maybe 50 yards and stopped, big mistake for her.


this one I got trying to do a drive to my wife after seeing a nice buck bedded on a bank last weekend. I walked through the piece that he was in a kicked out a doe and him, she didn't get a shot so we went to the piece he went in hoping he was still in there, almost done with the drive and I saw this doe above me and radioed to my wife to tell her where they were. she said she couldn't see it so I took the shot. my last doe tag filled and now I'm waiting for this weekend to try and fill my muzzleloader tag. hoping to get the wife out there and see if we can find that buck again.

Congrates to every one who was SUCCESSFUL, and thank you to every one who responded to this thread on the Best Damn Gun Forum in the Free World, even though it is in the Andrews Communist Republic of New Yorkistan. Let me tell you guys, I was born & raised in the Broome County area, 15 miles from the Pennsylvania Broader and half way between New York City and Buffalo.
It isn't the best deer hunting land in the State but I love it and its worth the cost for me to fly back to spend two or three weeks in the woods and time to visit my family.

And YES the Whitetail Deer back there really do taste better then the Blacktail & Muletail deer here out west.
I don't even buy a hunting license out here after first year out here.

On the other end of hunting here is a link on trail camera placement, A guy has one set up on a hide & gut pile, lots of crows and a cougar.

Last day of the season for me. Saw this one on edge of an apple strip i hunt and had the wife drop me off so i could put on a stalk. Closest i could get was 280yards so i settled my 250 crosshair a little high and squeezed. Got up to spot and found hair but no blood and followed tracks for about 20 yards before i saw her pilled up about 30 yards away.

Longest shot i ever made with my muzzleloader.

Your M1A doe's face looks quite fawnish.

Awesome shot with that muzzleloader though. I wouldn't even attempt a shot like that.

No fawns this year. All adult deer. Hard to show when you take your own pic. The scope on my muzzleloader is the main reason i got that deer, the cabelas muzzleloader scope has retical marks at 100, 150, 200, and 250. So far they have been spot on. 2nd deer I've got with it on my rifle with the first one being at 150 yds. This one was 280 and i used the 250 just a tad high.

Yep, and I do play. Luckily I have a nice spot across the street where I live that I can hunt till my heart's content. Haven't been much action over there though. I see plenty of tracks, torn up ground under the apple trees, and buck shit. But they must be traveling during the night. There is a section on top of the hill that no one can hunt though, they may hold up there during the day. The guys that own it are from Fl, Md, and NJ. Tax map shows it in the name of some Trust. From other people's experience, they aren't very friendly. I'd like to contact them about coyote hunting up there to preserve their deer hunting but from what I heard I don't think I'll bother.

What make & model is that black powder & scope make & model?
I wouldn't mind giving that set up a try.

Remington model 700 ml muzzleloader. Cabelas powderhorn muzzleloader scope with the hash marks pre set for 100, 150, 200, and 250.( Not sure if they still make it)
Shooting 3 777 50 grain pellets and t/c shockwave 250 grain sabots. Getting somewhere around 2100 fps.
Been using this rifle for a very long time but just put this scope on it a few years ago.
