Sat all morning in NJ again. I saw 5 deer as I parked my car, got me excited. Sat in the stand for 4 hours... NOTHING. Walked back to my car only to see some dumb little doe standing there. I was able to drop my climber off my back, fish out my release, set my bow back up and draw on her three times right out in the open. Decided against taking her because it wouldn't be worth the amount of meat I'd have gotten out of her. Next year Ma'am, next year...

Been struggling to get anything close all archery season. My buddy bagged this 10 point I'd been watching on my trail cam for some time now. 40 yard crossbow shot, straight through. Not the best placement but this guy walked right past me and I couldnt get a shot off (I didnt know he'd been hit) and ended up going near 200 yards before dropping.

Yeah, my toes usually do me in too but last year I started using the Hot Hands toe warmers, they do a nice job. Have to rotate them 90 degrees to get the right coverage (they're super narrow) but really do a lot to let me stay out there longer.

Just remember to bring backups it’s a bitch when they stop working way before they should have and your feet are all sweaty ..ask me how I know

I’m going deer hunting next Saturday. Not sure where I’m going. I’m not doing 9P since there’s not many bucks down there and I saw no rubs the area I hunt.
mom thinking of going to a small public place in 9A or a place I saw a few small buck rubs at To sea da Wildlife Preserve. I have a doe tag for 9A and I’m fairly sure I can get at least a smaller doe there. What do you all think? Go for the sure thing or the bigger buck potentially. The buck rubbing was nothing impressive and it was 2 weeks ago so he could be in someone’s freezer

I don't take the cold as good as I used to but I'll be out there as long as I can, or some buck decides I've had enough, Hah! I'll be using my .224 Valkyrie that I put together last winter and my hand loads that I put together last month.

.243 sighted in for 200. Outer shots were sighters, last 4 were 2" apart...

.243 is 3" high at 100 and the. 44 mag is good from 100 in....

Owe someone a good deed too. Left my keys in the quad loaded in the back of my truck when I drove to the range (8 miles). Found them in the left footwell. My ass still hasn't unpuckered.

Better than 2016 opener. IIRC it was freezing rain. I'll take 15F over 34 and pouring any damn day. I probably came within 20 minutes of being so cold I couldn't get down and just die or something. It was not nice.

As for my season, this is why I archery hunt. Got one with bow and one with xbow. My freezer is full now. You guys enjoy the cold I may be out again but not for a couple weeks at least.

What about an air rifle. That is what my BIL uses around his place as other homes in the area. He has taken plenty a racoon and Ive heard using the right pellet you can maybe take a yote?!

Rolled into deer camp at noon today with my camp guard dog . My old man and buddy pulled in shortly after me . Today we start drinking early , feast like kings and get to bed early for a 4:30 am rise .

I didn't get to go out for xbow but it doubles as a late muzzle tag so I got that going for me.

Will be hunting the homestead starting Tuesday afternoon, got too much to do before the inlaws get here.

I do not eat deer. Never liked it. Actually, I want to nearly vomit just thinking about eating venison.

I will be hunting at my land in Allegany County. Anyone want a free dead deer? I'll gut it and all. Figured I would offer it/them up here before donating to poor and hungry people.

The one I shot was with a smaller one. My cousin helped me get it back to the house then I dropped him back off up the hill and we saw two more. My father just texted that he saw two a few minutes ago.

There were a bunch of shots nearby a little before I got mine.

Had to knock off earlier than planned, 9:30. I'm leaving the phone home from now on. Beautiful clear crisp morning, I didn't hear as much shooting as usual though and I can hear a looooong ways from my perch.

I saw 7-8 does this morning. 1 doe was pushed out but I had no shot. Then I had a small group come in but I could hear something behind them, the does kept looking back. I was hoping it was a buck so I did not take a shot on a doe. If there was a buck, I did not see him.

My youngest boy dropped a small one I think it was one I saw with a doe at first light. He has little time between school this year so I’m glad he didn’t pass it up. Had a curious fisher running around for a while that kept me entertained. This wind was cold and few shots heard for the area
