I have not bought license yet. I have so much deer meat, gonna go thaw some more actually.
Was watching them just about sunrise this morning in the oak tree as I was sitting on the porch with Zoey having coffee. Munching and crunching away on them.Well, squirrellies are cherry picking the acorns, just noticed the sound yesterday afternoon.
Nice, Nothing like getting the freezer meat out of the way right off the bat .Am I first?
Got this big old mama in NJ this morning. Took one from Elite Impulse in the lung and made it about 35 yards.

It’s watching to see if you have any food that it can come over and mooch from you.
This guy just jumped out in front of me when I was getting in my truck. Stopped down hill long enough to snap a couple pics. Looks like 10 pts to me but not sure. Not a hunter but if I were lol...
I think I said I've never been successful, but that's not true. I once recovered a deer that made it a few hundred yards before piling up. Any other I've not taken within 100 yards or so they've all been irrecoverable. The blood clots so damn quickly on these animals. Even ones that I have gone after immediately they bleed for a bit and then it seizes up--so it's not like they've had a lot of time sitting around waiting.Tracked a deer my father shot for just about a mile before losing blood. We tried big time. It ended near a road so we might go back tomorrow.

I can remember each one I've failed to recover. One was a monstrous buck and when I let my arrow go I knew it was a double lung. Pefect broadside. Then it went into the woods and stopped, which is the telltale sign (goes in and crashes behind brush, dead). Then it came out of the woods and I was so surprised I failed to use the time I was given (and it was enough, sadly) to nock another arrow. The blood trail went cold eventually. Obviously I had not lunged it at all. I bet it was just a couple inches from a double shot.I don't know how this deer didn't die from blood loss. We had a good trail most of the way with only a few breaks. Had it jump twice but the blood was so strong we all agreed we should push on. Good thing is it ended right by a road we can easily drive to so we can try again tomorrow or later.
I think I posted my big track story here from 2017. I was alone and refused to give up because it was my best buck to date. I got permission from 4-5 homeowners in person and then the mayor of Wurtsboro (who was at work, got him on the phone). Finally found him exhausted on the mayor's property.
I finished it off then heeded the mayor's one request: no gutting until off the property. This meant a 1/4 drag down his gated driveway THEN walking almost a mile to get my car.
I'll most likely consider that day one of my greatest moments until the day I die.
