Yes so the flowers probably didn’t get pollinated because of the rain. I get that in spring with my fruit trees if it’s really wet or cold. The bees don’t come out. That’s sucks.I'm thinking too much rain at the wrong time. The pumpkins right next to the Hubard's are doing fine, leaves look green and hearty, but the ground is dry there.
Robin
Circle of life and food chain. At least you can get yours back. All that eats my shit is robins and squirrels. I live in the city so shooting the squirrels is a no no and they would probably taste gross since they eat garbage too.Our raised bed gardens have done very well, the Deer are finding it quite delectable.....fuckers, wait until Archery season opens, they I'll find them delectable.
Same here. Little cherry tomatoes go from unripe to exploding red. We're throwing out a bunch of tomatoes that are rotting on the vine. There were too many tomatoes so there are a bunch in pots on the deck. My wife thinks that we just can't get the watering right for the potted ones due to the frequent rain. Raised beds are definitely doing better.
Do you have drainage holes in the bottom? Did you use soil you made or potting soil? Potting soil should make it about impossible to overwater. We're throwing out a bunch of tomatoes that are rotting on the vine. There were too many tomatoes so there are a bunch in pots on the deck. I'm surprised nobody has reported you yet. This is completely inappropriate for a gardening thread.View attachment 124751 Now we’re cooking
It’s just a matter of perspective... compared to farms in Florida and California all I’m doing is gardening...I'm surprised nobody has reported you yet. This is completely inappropriate for a gardening thread.
My teen years were spent in the greater Orlando area where A. Duda Farms grew everything....unimaginable how many thousands of acres they grew. even today its not unusual to see an open top semi-trailer heaping over the top with celery or whatever they were picking. It’s just a matter of perspective... compared to farms in Florida and California all I’m doing is gardening...
they probably drop that many tomatoes on the ground when they make a turn with the mechanical harvester.
There are a few very large farms in NYS as well. A few are 5,000-7,500+ Acres. My teen years were spent in the greater Orlando area where A. Sugar makes everything better. Maybe a blackberry sauce or jam?I just harvested a bunch of blackberries and they are so sour they are not even edible. It’s been like this in years past so I netted them and let them ripen further and it’s worse. They are terrible. I like sour but these are worse than eating a lemon. I think I will remove the bushes they are so bad.

I do t have enough to do that yet. Only a bowl or two here and there. Not sure if I’ll keep them if people don’t like them. I’ll grow something else or let the raspberries take over that section. My blueberries did well so maybe a few more of them.Sugar makes everything better. Maybe a blackberry sauce or jam?
The tomatoes are loving this heat.
The wife only wanted cherry /grape tomatoes, so there’s not much that can be made with them. I went above her wishes and got some beefsteak, so if I have enough, maybe I can do something with them.same. Kid has a sleepover tonight.
so we are getting it on….making homemade sauce.
tomato sauce that is.
Funny my wife said your mine tonight. I said yeah whatever you want to do is fine. No tomatoes involved tonight.same. Kid has a sleepover tonight.
