I have never used a shoulder rig until now and I quite like it actually. I have carried this way at work for the past three days over long hours, 12 hour shift on Friday, and found this setup to be very comfortable and convenient. I wear it under a regular button up shirt and nothing else (superman carry I guess its called, as you'd rip the shirt open to get at it). There is some minor printing but not really noticeable, particularly to a lay person, and that doesn't really bother me.
I did some draw practice, even sacrificed a shirt for the superman thing, and the draw is slower than from a belt holster but I chose shoulder holster for specific reasons. Namely I spend a lot of time driving and I use public restooms a lot and shoulder holsters are very convenient for this. Also I have to do a lot of bending and twisting when unloading the trailer and I'm concerned that a tuckable IWB holster would expose the gun, an untucked shirt isn't really an option as I llike to look professional and untucked would look out of place.
Keeping the gun concealed, even at just a plausible deniability level is important as carrying on job or on/in company property is prohibited with termination being the punishment if caught, though it seems to be something of a poorly kept secret that some of the drivers are carrying. Hopefully management would give us some leeway in these troubled times especially since one of our drivers has already been attacked.
I also like having two magazines for reloads, comfortably stowed on the off side. I have never found belt mounted magazine carriers to be very comfortable or practical.
And not for nothing it does look pretty cool and I feel cool wearing it.
